Release form and composition
Dosage forms of release:
- lozenge tablets: flat-cylindrical, with solid edges, chamfer, on one flat side with a line and the inscription MATERIA MEDICA, on the other - RENGALIN; from almost white to white (10 pcs. in blisters, in a cardboard box 1, 2 or 5 packages);
- oral solution: colorless or almost colorless, transparent (10 ml in glass bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard box).
Active ingredients in 1 tablet / 100 ml solution:
- affinity purified antibodies to bradykinin - 6/120 mg;
- affinity purified antibodies to histamine - 6/120 mg;
- affinity purified antibodies to morphine - 6/120 mg.
Auxiliary components:
- 1 tablet: microcrystalline cellulose - 27.5 mg; magnesium stearate - 5.5 mg; sodium cyclamate - 2.75 mg; anhydrous citric acid - 5.225 mg; sodium saccharin - 0.275 mg; isomalt - 506 mg; colloidal silicon dioxide - 2.75 mg;
- 100 ml solution: anhydrous citric acid - 20 mg; maltitol - 6000 mg; potassium sorbate - 165 mg; glycerol - 3000 mg; purified water - up to 100 ml.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
It has been experimentally proven that Rengalin components modify the activity of ligand-receptor interaction of endogenous regulators with the corresponding receptors: antibodies to histamine - with H1-histamine receptors; to morphine - with opiate receptors; to bradykinin - with B1-receptors of bradykinin. The interaction of the active components of Rengalin in complex therapy enhances the antitussive effect.
In addition to the main drug, the drug has a decongestant, anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, analgesic (antibodies to morphine) and antispasmodic (antibodies to histamine and bradykinin) effects.
Due to the modification of histamine-dependent activation of H1-receptors and bradykinin-dependent activation of B1-receptors, the drug selectively reduces the excitability of the cough center of the medulla oblongata, promotes inhibition of the central links of the cough reflex. Oppressing the centers of pain sensitivity in the thalamus, it blocks the transmission of pain impulses to the cerebral cortex. Due to a decrease in the release of plasma and tissue algogens, it inhibits the flow of pain impulses from the periphery.
Rengalin relieves local and systemic symptoms of allergic reactions, eases the course of acute pharyngitis, bronchitis and laryngitis, reduces bronchospasm.
Pharmacokinetics
The study of the pharmacokinetics of the drug is not possible.
Indications for use
- respiratory tract diseases in acute and chronic course, proceeding with bronchospasm and cough;
- unproductive / productive cough accompanying influenza, acute respiratory viral infections, acute pharyngitis, laryngotracheitis, acute obstructive laryngitis, chronic bronchitis and other infectious-inflammatory and allergic diseases of the lower / upper respiratory tract.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- age up to 3 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (diseases / conditions that require caution):
- diabetes mellitus (for solution);
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding.
Instructions for the use of Rengalin: method and dosage
Rengalin for cough is taken orally, preferably between meals.
For the maximum effect of the drug, the tablets must be kept in the mouth until they are completely dissolved; it is advisable to keep the solution in the mouth before swallowing.
Single dose - 1 tablet or 5-10 ml of solution, frequency of administration - 3 times a day. During the first 3 days of therapy, the frequency of administration can be increased up to 4-6 times daily.
The duration of use is determined individually by the doctor and depends on the severity of the course of the disease.
Side effects
During the period of application of Rengalin from cough, the development of reactions of increased individual sensitivity can be observed.
Overdose
The main symptoms of an overdose: dyspeptic symptoms, which are caused by the fillers included in the preparation.
Therapy: symptomatic.
special instructions
5 ml of solution contains 0.3 g of maltitol, which corresponds to 0.02 XE (grain units). Insulin is required for the metabolism of maltitol, although due to slow absorption in the gastrointestinal tract and hydrolysis, the need for insulin is low.
The energy value of 1 teaspoon of the solution is ~ 1.37 kcal (5.7 kJ).
Doses of Rengalin for children are determined individually by a doctor.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Due to the lack of clinical data confirming the safety / efficacy of Rengalin during pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be used with caution in this group of patients after a careful assessment of the benefit-risk ratio.
