Remo Wax is a hypoallergenic solution for regular hygiene of the ears.
Composition and form of release
According to the instructions, Remo Wax is available in the form of a solution for instillation into the ear canal. In 1 plastic bottle with a dispenser 10 ml of Remowax solution, which contains 3 mg of allantoin, 1 mg of benzethonium chloride, 1 mg of butylhydroxytoluene, 5 mg of phenylethanol, 2 mg of sorbic acid, liquid lanolin, mink oil, emulsifiers and fillers, water.
Pharmacological action of Remo wax
According to the instructions, Remo Wax helps to dissolve earwax (secretion of the glands of the external auditory canal). The earwax is usually removed on its own by chewing. In some conditions (irritation of the ear canal with dust, water, headphones, earplugs; abrupt climate change; skin diseases), the secretion of sulfur increases many times, accumulates and can form a sulfur plug. In turn, sulfur plug leads to hearing loss, headache, nausea.
Remo Vax does not contain aggressive components and antibacterial drugs, therefore it can be used in children from birth. Its composition lanolin, mink oil, allantoin, promote the separation of keratinized cells of the ear canal, narrow pores and suppress the reproduction of microorganisms. And phenylethanol and butylhydroxytoluene promote the penetration of other components into the thickness of the sulfur plug and soften it. Sorbic acid helps to moisturize the cork, making it easier to clean.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Remo Wax is recommended for removing excess earwax in adults and children from birth. The drug is especially necessary for the following groups of patients:
- young children;
- persons who are actively engaged in swimming;
- people who use headphones and hearing aids;
- elderly people with hearing loss.
Contraindications to the use of Remo wax
This medication should not be used if the patient has ear pain, secretions from the ear canal, or if the eardrum is damaged.
Method of administration and dosage
According to the instructions, Remo Wax is recommended to be instilled into the ear canal. Before use, you must first hold the bottle in the palm of your hand for 2 minutes so that its temperature becomes close to body temperature.
The patient needs to lie on his side. In order to straighten the external auditory canal, you need to pull the earlobe back and down (in infants, the auricle needs to be shifted back and up), then drip 20 drops of the drug along the back wall (the amount of solution depends on the size of the auditory canal, the solution level should reach the border transition to the auricle).
Attention! The instillation of the solution into the center of the ear can lead to the formation of an airlock (especially if the auditory canal has a convoluted narrow passage after inflammatory diseases).
After instilling Remo wax, according to reviews, the patient may have a feeling of the presence of fluid in the ear for several minutes. This effect is due to the presence of moisture-retaining components in the preparation.
It is not necessary to place cotton wool or cotton pads in the ear after the instillation of Remo wax, since they will absorb the solution before it begins to act.
After instillation, you should wait about 10 minutes. Then turn over on the other side and let the solution flow out for 1 minute (you can also bend over the surface). Due to the dissolved sulfur, the effluent solution may be brown. No additional rinsing is required after using Remo wax.
The drug should be used once every 14 days for regular ear hygiene.
If the patient has a sulfur plug, the exposure time of Remo wax should be increased to half an hour. In some cases, a daily (up to 5 times) repetition of the procedure may be required.
According to reviews, Remo Wax is hypoallergenic and safe for use even in children with allergic and skin diseases. Conducted clinical studies have proven the safety of the drug with long-term use.
