Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Relief Advance is a drug for local use in proctology. It has anti-inflammatory, wound healing and anesthetic effects.
The mechanism of action is due to the properties of the components of the composition:
- shark liver oil: has anti-inflammatory, wound-healing, hemostatic and immunomodulatory activity;
- benzocaine: has a local anesthetic effect without causing resorption;
- cocoa butter: being the basis of suppositories, it has an additional emollient effect.
Indications for use
- anal itching;
- internal and external hemorrhoids;
- erosion and cracks in the anus.
Relief Advance is also used:
- for anesthesia after surgery in proctology;
- when carrying out diagnostic manipulations.
Contraindications
- granulocytopenia;
- thromboembolism;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
According to the instructions, Relief Advance should be used with extreme caution and only as directed by a doctor during pregnancy, breastfeeding and for the treatment of children under 12 years of age.
Instructions for use of Relief Advance: method and dosage
Rectal suppositories
Relief Advance suppositories are used by insertion into the anus.
They should be used in the morning, at night and after each bowel movement (bowel movement), after having performed hygienic procedures.
Recommended dosage for patients over 12 years old: 1 pc. no more than 4 times a day. The duration of treatment is determined individually.
Ointment for rectal and external use
Relief Advance ointment is intended for external use by applying a thin layer to the affected anal area and direct injection into the anus.
The procedure is carried out using the supplied applicator, attached to the tube. Before insertion into the anus, the applicator should be lubricated by squeezing out a small amount of ointment. After each use, the applicator must be removed, washed thoroughly and placed in a protective cap.
Recommended frequency of procedures: up to 4 times a day (morning, afternoon, evening and after each bowel movement).
Side effects
Against the background of the use of Relief Advance, the development of allergic reactions and local reactions in the form of hyperemia and itching is possible.
Overdose
Symptoms: drowsiness, agitation, anxiety, with significant intoxication - convulsions. Very rarely, systemic absorption of benzocaine can cause respiratory distress and cyanosis (methemoglobinemia).
Treatment: symptomatic therapy; with methemoglobinemia, intravenous administration of methylene blue solution is indicated.
special instructions
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug into the digestive tract, the patient requires immediate qualified medical attention.
In the absence of a clinical effect (while maintaining painful symptoms, profuse bloody discharge from the rectum) after 7 days of regular use of the drug, the patient needs to get additional advice from a proctologist.
Against the background of a significant excess of the recommended dosage and daily frequency of procedures, the shark liver oil included in the drug can cause the patient to develop a tendency to increased blood clotting.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The use of Relief Advance during the period of gestation and breastfeeding is possible in special cases, if the expected effect of therapy for the mother outweighs the potential threat to the fetus or child.
Pediatric use
Use in children under the age of 12 is indicated only for the intended purpose and under the close supervision of a physician.
Drug interactions
When Relief Advance is combined with other agents, no clinically significant interaction has been established.
