The active substance Nemozole has a pronounced anthelmintic effect against roundworms, changing the course of biochemical processes in their bodies.
The most active Nemozol according to reviews in relation to the larval forms of the cestodes Taenia solium and Echinococcus granulosus, and the nematodes Strongyloides stercolatis.
Release form
Nemozole is available in three dosage forms:
- White round film-coated tablets containing 200 mg (1 piece in a blister) or 400 mg (2 pieces in a blister) of albendazole;
- Suspensions for oral administration, containing 100 mg of albendazole in 5 ml, in vials of 20 ml;
- Chewable tablets containing 400 mg of albendazole, in a blister, 1 piece.
Indications for the use of Nemozol
According to the instructions, Nemozol should be used for:
- Nematodoses - enterobiasis, ascariasis, noncatorosis, ankylostomiasis, trichocephalosis;
- Strongyloidosis;
- Mixed helminthic invasions;
- Echinococcosis of the lungs, liver and peritoneum caused by the larval form of Echinococcus granulosus;
- Giardiasis;
- Neurocysticercosis, which is caused by the larval form of Taenia solium;
- Toxocariasis.
Also, the use of Nemozole is indicated in the surgical treatment of echinococcosis cysts as an adjunct.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Nemozole is contraindicated for use with:
- Retinal damage;
- Pregnancy and during breastfeeding;
- Hypersensitivity to the components of Nemozole and other benzimidazole derivatives.
Nemozol should be used with caution in case of impaired liver function and hematopoiesis.
Method of using Nemozol
The duration of treatment with Nemozole and the dosage used depend on the type of helminth lesion:
- For children over 2 years of age and adults, in the treatment of nematodes, 400 mg of Nemozole or 20 ml of suspension is taken orally once. The most effective way to take the drug is with meals;
- With neurocysticercosis and echinococcosis, Nemozol, according to the instructions, is taken at 400 mg twice a day, and with a weight less than 60 kg, the daily dose is calculated - 15 mg / kg, which should be taken in 2 doses. The course of treatment is usually long and with neurocysticercosis - from a week to a month, with echinococcosis, 3 cycles of treatment with Nemozol are recommended for 28 days, with the interval between them should be no more than two weeks;
- Children with giardiasis are usually prescribed 10-15 mg / kg once a day for a week;
- With toxocariasis, children under 14 years of age calculate the dose - 10 mg / kg twice a day, children over 14 years old and adults weighing less than 60 kg are prescribed 1 tablet of Nemozol 200 mg 2 times a day, and with a body weight over 60 kg taken the dose of the drug is doubled. The duration of treatment with Nemozol for toxocariasis is from one to two weeks.
