Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Zinc hyaluronate - the active substance of Curiosin, combines the stimulating and wound-healing effects of hyaluronic acid and zinc.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the most important components of the skin and connective tissue, which ensures the integrity of its structure, elasticity and regeneration after damage. The substance belongs to one of the most biocompatible materials for treating wounds.

Zinc hyaluronate forms an extracellular matrix that accelerates the process of granulation, angiogenesis and epithelialization, thereby increasing the synthesis and accumulation of collagen fibers.

Zinc has antimicrobial properties, preventing infection from developing. As an antioxidant, it makes it difficult to damage the extracellular and cellular matrix by free radicals, which helps to reduce their negative effect on tissue regeneration.

Thanks to the use of the drug, the acceleration of healing of damaged skin by primary / secondary intention is noted, as a result of the retention and delivery of water, a special microenvironment is created in the damaged area. Acting as a mechanical and antimicrobial barrier, zinc hyaluronate promotes the formation of a biocompatible molecular protective layer and, as a consequence, relieves pain in the wound area and relieves the inflammatory process.

The hydrated layer of the substance forms a dense molecular network, which acts as a viscoelastic molecular filter and prevents microorganisms from entering the environment (by contact and airborne droplets). Thus, Curiosin serves as a kind of antimicrobial hydrated dressing that keeps damaged skin hydrated, which is the main purpose of skin damage management.

The healing process can be accompanied by a weakening of scarring (due to the extremely high content of hyaluronic acid, embryonic wounds heal without scarring) with the restoration of the skin to a practically healthy appearance and condition.

Zinc hyaluronate, in comparison with sodium hyaluronate, has a bacteriostatic effect against many bacteria. Zinc, in particular, inhibits the lipase activity of Propionibacterium acnes.

In response to the activity of the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, the release of biologically active substances is an important factor in addition to the two main causes of acne (hyperkeratosis of the ducts of the sebaceous glands and the proliferation of tissues within them). Due to these processes, there is a significant decrease in the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the affected skin. Due to the local application of the drug, this lack of substance is compensated.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, zinc hyaluronate is practically not absorbed, a small amount of hyaluronic acid is determined in the blood plasma.

Indications for use

Curiosin solution is prescribed for local therapy of infected, poorly healing wounds, leg ulcers, fistulas, bedsores, as well as to accelerate the process of normal wound healing (simultaneously with other drugs).

Gel Curiosin is used for topical treatment of all forms of moderate to mild acne, primarily papulopustular acne and comedones.

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy and lactation;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

Curiosin, instructions for use: method and dosage

Curiosin is used externally.

The solution is applied to damaged areas of the skin 1 time per day, the maximum dose is 1 drop / cm².

The surface of the wound should be pre-rinsed with saline or, if necessary, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution. The solution is applied to a gauze napkin or bandage in an amount sufficient to evenly moisturize the entire wound surface, without exceeding the maximum allowable dose. Cover the wound with a sterile bandage or gauze soaked in Curiosin solution. For severely weeping wounds, the drug can be applied 2 times a day.

After preliminary cleansing of the skin, Kuriosin gel is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas 2 times a day. Within a few minutes, the drug is absorbed, the use of dressings is not required.

The duration of use of Curiosin is determined by the form and severity of the disease.

Side effects

At the beginning of therapy, a slight burning sensation may be felt, which gradually disappears.

In very rare cases, allergic reactions in the form of irritation and contact dermatitis may develop on adjacent skin areas after application of the drug.

Curiosin gel, when applied to dry skin types, may cause a tightening sensation.

Overdose

Reviews about Curiosin

Patients note that the drug effectively restores damaged skin after acne, does not dry out or irritate it, it is well applied and absorbed. Therefore, most of the reviews about Curiosin are positive. In addition, the remedy is often and quite successfully used against wrinkles.

One of the main disadvantages of Curiosin is the high cost, as well as for the solution - the short shelf life after opening the package; for the gel - a small volume of the tube. Some users point out that the therapeutic effect is insufficient for severe skin damage.
