20% solution for preparation of 2% solution for oral administration Ksidifon
20% solution for preparation of 2% solution for oral administration Ksidifon

Ksidiphon is a drug that regulates phosphorus-calcium metabolism in the body.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - 20% solution for preparation of 2% solution for oral administration: colorless and odorless (in bottles of 50 or 100 ml, in polyethylene containers of 100 and 250 ml).

10 ml of solution contains:

  • Active ingredient: etidronic acid (potassium hydroxyethylidene diphosphonate dihydrate) - 2 g;
  • Auxiliary components: sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Ksidiphon is used to correct the metabolism of bone and cartilage tissue by normalizing calcium metabolism. Etidronic acid - the active substance of the drug - prevents calcium loss from bone tissue, providing prevention of osteoporosis and pathological calcification of various soft tissues.

Etidronic acid prevents the crystallization of calcium salts, preventing the appearance of stones (insoluble calcium salts with mucopolysaccharides, oxalates, phosphates). In patients with nephritis, the active component of the drug has a moderately pronounced anti-inflammatory effect.

The drug increases the rate of excretion of heavy metals from the body: magnesium, lead, strontium, as well as tin, antimony, silicon. At the same time, the balance of trace elements is not disturbed. Ksidiphon improves the biophysical state of the cell membranes of the immune system and is used in the treatment of bronchial asthma.

After oral administration, the drug is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract for 30 minutes, but is not metabolized in the body. Etidronic acid is excreted unchanged through the kidneys. The half-life is 1 day.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, Ksidifon, as a means of regulating calcium metabolism in children and adults, is prescribed for the following conditions / diseases:

  • Urolithiasis and other kidney diseases;
  • Hypervitaminosis D;
  • Osteoporosis (for treatment and prevention);
  • Hyperparathyroidism (fibrocystic osteitis) and concomitant interstitial nephritis;
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (to prevent the development of osteoporosis and osteopenia with prolonged immobilization, an increase in bone mass in secondary osteoporosis).

Also, the drug is prescribed if the following indications are present:

  • Acceleration of the elimination of excess heavy metals from the body: antimony, tin, lead, strontium, silicon;
  • Stabilization of membranes of immunocompetent cells in adults with mild and moderate bronchial asthma (along with other drugs);
  • Prevention of osteoporosis in adults with hormone-dependent bronchial asthma (along with other drugs).

Contraindications

  • Hypocalcemia;
  • Pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;
  • Hypersensitivity to drug components.

In chronic enterocolitis, Ksidifon is prescribed with caution.

Instructions for the use of Ksidifon: method and dosage
