Colposeptin is a combined topical agent with antibacterial and disinfectant effects.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - vaginal tablets (6 pcs. In a blister, 3 packs in a cardboard box).
Content of active substances in 1 tablet:
- Promestriene - 10 mg;
- Chlorquinaldol 200 mg

Indications for use
The use of Colposeptin is indicated for topical use in gynecology:
- Treatment of exocervicitis, bacterial vaginosis and other infectious and inflammatory diseases of the vagina of bacterial genesis (except for infections caused by gonococci);
- Candidiasis (therapy of mild forms);
- Prevention of chronic recurrent infectious diseases of the vagina caused by flora sensitive to chlorquinaldol;
- Preparing the cervix before childbirth.
In addition, vaginal tablets are prescribed to patients after a surgical operation associated with uterine erosion to accelerate the processes of restoration of the epithelial layer.
Contraindications
- Estrogen-dependent tumors;
- Childhood;
- Individual hypersensitivity to drug components.
The use of vaginal tablets is contraindicated in patients using spermicidal agents or latex condoms as contraception.
With extreme caution, it is recommended to prescribe the drug in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Method of administration and dosage
The tablets are intended for deep intravaginal administration.
For the introduction, the patient should take a horizontal position and lying on her back, bending her knees, insert a tablet moistened with water into the vagina. After the introduction, the original position should be maintained for 1 hour or more.
The dose and treatment period are prescribed by a gynecologist based on clinical indications.
The recommended dosage is usually 1 tablet 1 time per day (before bedtime). The course of treatment is 14-18 days.
If it is necessary to achieve a quick effect or in case of a severe form of the disease, the daily dose can be increased to 2 tablets, applied in the morning and evening.
Treatment can be started any day of the menstrual cycle without interrupting the bleeding during menstruation.
When preparing the cervix for childbirth, 1 tablet is prescribed per day for 5-6 days.
During the period of using the tablets, daily sanitary pads should be used.
Side effects
Colposeptin is generally well tolerated by patients.
In some cases, the drug can cause side effects:
- Development of local allergic reactions, including a feeling of heat, itching, burning of the vaginal mucosa and perineal skin, hyperemia;
- Metrorrhagia.

The tablets are not intended for oral administration.
Treatment should be carried out under the supervision of a physician.
In case of development of uterine bleeding not associated with the menstrual cycle (metrorrhagia), it is necessary to urgently consult a doctor to prescribe symptomatic therapy.
To ensure complete dissolution of the tablet inside the vagina, especially if it is dry, the tablet must always be moistened with water before insertion.
Latex condoms should not be used as contraception, since the chemical composition of vaginal tablets reduces their protective properties.
During the treatment period, it is recommended to use other contraceptives or refuse to have sex.
With the development of hypersensitivity reactions, it is recommended to choose an alternative therapy.
Drug interactions
The simultaneous use of Colposeptin leads to a decrease in the effectiveness of spermicidal agents.
Medicines containing compounds of iodine and metals reduce the pharmacological action of chlorquinaldol.
