pharmachologic effect
Levomycetin ophthalmic is an antimicrobial agent with a bacteriostatic effect aimed at suppressing gram-negative, gram-positive organisms, strains resistant to the action of streptomycin, penicillin, sulfanilamide: coli, hemophilic, Friedlender, some types of enterobacter, neisseria, staphylococcus aureus.
Protozoa, clostridia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, acid-resistant organisms are insensitive to levomycytin ophthalmic. The drug is ineffective against serrations.
Resistance to the drug develops slowly. After using the drops, a high concentration of the agent is observed in the iris, vitreous body, and cornea. The drug does not penetrate into the crystal.
Release form
Levomycetin eye drops are produced in 10 ml bottles.

Indications for the use of Levomycetin ophthalmic
Drops are used in ophthalmology to treat infectious eye diseases: blepharitis, keratitis, conjunctivitis, neuroparalytic keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis, and other diseases caused by organisms sensitive to the antibiotic Levomycetin.
Also, Levomycetin eye drops are effective in cases where other antibacterial and other drugs are ineffective.
Contraindications
Levomycetin drops are contraindicated in case of renal, hepatic insufficiency, hematopoiesis disorders, hypersensitivity to the drug.
The drug is prescribed with caution to lactating women, pregnant women, children under two years of age, patients with psoriasis, eczema.
The risk of side effects increases with the simultaneous use of ophthalmic Levomycetin with drugs that inhibit hematopoiesis (sulfonamides, cytostatics), the appointment of a drug during radiation therapy.
If, after instilling Levomycetin ophthalmic, the patient notes a loss of vision clarity, he is advised to refrain from driving a car, engaging in activities that require increased attention.

Apply Levomycetin dia eye drops locally - instill one, two drops into the conjunctival sac every 1-4 hours.
Drops should be collected only with a clean pipette. The recommended course of treatment is no more than two weeks.
Before instillation, contact lenses should be removed and put on again only half an hour after using the drug.
Side effects
Levomycetin can cause itching, eye redness, burning sensation. With prolonged use of the drug (three or more weeks), leukopenia, aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenia, secondary fungal infection may develop.
If side effects appear, Levomycetin should be canceled.
