Imudon is an immunostimulating agent for topical use in dentistry and otorhinolaryngology.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets for resorption: flat-cylindrical shape with beveled edges and with a slight marbling of a smooth shiny surface, white or almost white, have a mint smell (8 pcs. In a blister strip, in a cardboard box 3 or 5 packs).
The active substance is a mixture of bacterial lysates (Imudon), in 1 tablet - 2.7 mg, including:
- Lysates of bacteria: Lactobacillus delbrueckii ss lactis, Candida albicans, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus helveticus, Streptococcus pyogenes groupe A, Lactobacillus fermentum, Streptococcus sangius groupe H, Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum ss fusiforme, Klebsiella pneumoniae ss pneumoniae, Corynebacterium pseudodiphtheriticum - 0.1575 mg;
- Excipients: thiomersal - no more than 0.0125 mg, sodium deoxycholate - 0.53 mg, glycine - 2 mg.
Auxiliary components: lactose monohydrate, glycine, mannitol, povidone, sodium saccharinate, anhydrous citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium stearate, mint flavor.

Imudon is a polyvalent antigenic complex, which includes a mixture of bacterial lysates. The composition of the drug corresponds to causative agents of diseases, mainly provoking inflammatory processes in the oral cavity and pharynx.
The drug has a bacterial origin and is characterized by an immunostimulating effect, which led to its local use in dentistry and otorhinolaryngology. It promotes the activation of phagocytosis, an increase in the number of immunocompetent cells, a more intense production of lysozyme, interferon and secretory immunoglobulin A in human saliva.

Indications for use
Prevention and treatment of the following diseases of the infectious and inflammatory genesis of the pharynx and oral cavity:
- Chronic tonsillitis;
- Pharyngitis;
- Periodontitis, deep and superficial periodontal disease, glossitis, stomatitis, including aphthous;
- Dysbacteriosis of the oral cavity;
- Ulcerative and erythematous gingivitis;
- Preparation for tonsillectomy and the postoperative period;
- Infections after tooth extraction surgery, implantation of artificial dental roots;
- Violations of the mucous membrane of the mouth, which have arisen against the background of wearing dentures.
Contraindications
- The period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- Age up to 3 years;
- Autoimmune diseases;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Instructions for use of Imudon: method and dosage
The tablets should be taken buccally (without chewing or swallowing whole, but holding them in the mouth until they are completely dissolved).
Recommended dosage:
- Exacerbation of chronic pathologies of the pharynx and oral cavity or acute forms of inflammatory diseases: children from 3 to 14 years old - 6 tablets, patients over 14 years old - 8 tablets per day with an interval of 1-2 hours, for 10 days;
- Prevention of exacerbations of chronic inflammatory diseases of the pharynx and oral cavity: for children and adults - 6 tablets per day, with an interval of 2 hours, the period of administration is 20 days. It is recommended to carry out preventive courses 3-4 times during the year.
Side effects
The use of the drug can cause side effects:
- From the digestive system: rarely - abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting;
- Allergic reactions: rarely - urticaria, skin rash, angioedema;
- From the hematopoietic system: very rarely - thrombocytopenia, hemorrhagic vasculitis;
- From the respiratory system: rarely - cough, exacerbation of attacks of bronchial asthma;
- From the side of the skin: very rarely - erythema nodosum;
- Others: rarely - an increase in body temperature.
Overdose
Overdose cases have not been registered at the moment.

It is not recommended to rinse your mouth, drink or eat during the first hour after taking the drug, this reduces its effect.
Patients on a low-salt or salt-free diet should take into account that the sodium content in 1 tablet is 15 mg.
Patients with bronchial asthma, in whom the use of drugs containing bacterial lysates, causes attacks of bronchial asthma, it is not recommended to prescribe Imudon.
Use in children from 3 to 6 years old should take place under the mandatory supervision of adults until the tablet is completely dissolved.
There are no data on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms.
