The hemostatic sponge is an antihemorrhagic (hemostatic) agent for local use.
Release form and composition
Dosage form: sponge 50x50 mm or 90x90 mm (1 pc. In a two-layer plastic bag, in a cardboard box 1 bag).
Active ingredients of 1 g of sponge:
- Collagen in the form of a 2% substance-solution - 980 mg;
- Nitrofural - 7.5 mg;
- Boric acid - 12.5 mg.
Indications for use
- Parenchymal and capillary bleeding;
- Damage to the skin;
- Bleeding from the sinuses of the dura mater;
- Trophic ulcers;
- Alveolar bleeding;
- Bedsores;
- Filling of defects of parenchymal organs;
- Otitis;
- Nasal bleeding;
- Hemostasis in dental procedures.
Contraindications
The use of hemostatic sponges is contraindicated in arterial bleeding and hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Method of administration and dosage
The sponge is used topically to plug the wound.
After being applied to the bleeding surface, the sponge is soaked in blood after 3-5 minutes and adheres tightly to the wound. If the bleeding continues, a second coat should be applied. If it is necessary to increase the hemostatic effect, the sponge can be impregnated with a thrombin solution. After stopping blood loss, the hemostatic sponge should be fixed with a U-shaped suture.
Side effects
The use of the drug can cause side effects in the form of secondary infection or allergic reactions.
Drug interactions
The hemostatic action of the sponge enhances its additional wetting in thrombin.
