Oral suspension Gaviscon Forte

Gaviscon Forte is a combined antacid drug intended for the symptomatic treatment of dyspepsia, which is associated with increased acidity of gastric juice and gastroesophageal reflux.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - suspension for oral administration (anise, mint): a viscous suspension from light brown to almost white, with a specific anise or mint smell (in a cardboard box 1 dark glass bottle of 80, 150, 200, 250 or 300 ml; mint suspension for pregnant women - in a cardboard box of 4, 8, 12, 16 or 20 multi-layer sachets of 10 ml; each pack also contains instructions for the use of Gaviscon Forte).

  • auxiliary components: sodium saccharinate - 10 mg; propyl parahydroxybenzoate - 6 mg; carbomer - 40 mg; calcium carbonate - 200 mg; methyl parahydroxybenzoate - 40 mg; sodium hydroxide - 14.44 mg; fennel flavor - 7 mg or mint flavor - 6 mg (for aniseed and mint suspensions, respectively); purified water - up to 10 ml.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Gaviscon Forte is one of the combined antacids. After oral administration, the active substances of the drug quickly interact with the acidic contents of the stomach. In this case, the formation of an alginate gel occurs, which prevents the development of gastroesophageal reflux. During regurgitation, the gel enters the esophagus, which helps to reduce irritation of the mucous membrane.

Pharmacokinetics

The mechanism of action of Gaviscon Forte is a physical process and does not depend on the absorption of the drug into the systemic circulation.

Indications for use

Gaviscon Forte is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of dyspepsia, which is associated with gastroesophageal reflux and increased acidity of gastric juice (manifested in the form of heartburn, sour eructation, a feeling of heaviness in the stomach after eating), including during pregnancy.

Contraindications

  • children under 12 years old;
  • individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
