Gastal is an antacid that is used for gastritis and stomach ulcers.

Release form
The instructions for Gastal indicate that the drug is produced in the form of Gastal tablets, 6 pcs. in a blister, in 1 pack of 4,5,8, or 10 blisters. 1 tablet contains 450 mg of hydrotalcite and 300 mg of magnesium hydroxide.

The drug also inhibits the action of pepsin, bile enzymes (lecithin) and bile acids, promotes rapid healing of stomach ulcers and protects the mucous membrane from aggressive factors (stimulates the secretion of mucus and alkaline sodium bicarbonate, epidermal growth factor, increases the concentration of phospholipids, etc.).
The effect of the drug occurs immediately after administration and continues for another 2 hours. The drug is not absorbed internally, but excreted in the feces.
Indications for the use of Gastal
According to the indications for Gastal, he is taken when:
- gastritis with high acidity,
- ulcers of the stomach and small intestine,
- heartburn
- erosion of the gastric mucosa,
- reflux esophagitis,
- diaphragmatic hernia,
- acute pancreatitis,
- with dyspepsia with prolonged retention of food in the stomach.
The indication for Gastal is also the prevention of peptic ulcer disease.
Instructions for the use of Gastal and doses
The drug tablet should be dissolved in the mouth.
Adults use 1-2 tablets up to 6 times a day. You can not take more than 8 tablets per day. It is recommended to postpone the use of Gastal 1 hour after eating or already before bedtime.
The maximum course of admission is 14 days.
For heartburn, the drug is prescribed in normal doses, but the use of Gastal does not depend on food intake.
For preventive purposes, Gastala tablets are used before the season of exacerbations (spring-autumn).
For children, the drug is prescribed from 6 years old at half the adult dose, from 12 years old you can use the full dose.
Side effects

Contraindications
Gastal is contraindicated:
- with chronic renal failure;

- children under 6;

Overdose
With prolonged use of the drug in high doses, an overdose of aluminum and magnesium is possible, hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, hypercalciuria, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, hypermagnesemia, encephalopathy, hyperaluminaemia, nephrocalcinosis or impaired renal function may develop. Constipation or diarrhea is also possible.
People with kidney failure may experience thirst, hypotension, and reduced reflexes. Treatment of an overdose of Gastal is symptomatic.
Drug interactions
You can not take Gastal earlier or later, as in 1-2 hours after the use of other medicines.
The drug enhances the effect of nalidixic acid and levodopa, reduces the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, ofloxacin and ciproflocacin, salicylates, naproxen, isoniazid, iron preparations, glycosides, indomethacin, phenytoin, aminazin, beta-adrenergic blockers, D, non-flunizal antibiotics, anti-flunizal barbiturates.
With the simultaneous administration of the drug with M-anticholinergics, its effect intensifies and continues.
Storage conditions
Gastal is stored in a dry place at an air temperature of no higher than 25 ° C for up to 3 years.
