Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Belosalik has anti-inflammatory, decongestant, keratolytic, antifungal, antipruritic, antimicrobial, antiproliferative, anti-allergic and immunosuppressive effects.
Belosalik is a combined drug. Betamethasone dipropionate, one of the active ingredients of the drug, belongs to synthetic glucocorticosteroids. It has antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, vasoconstrictor and anti-allergic effects. When applied to the skin, betamethasone eliminates itching, constricts blood vessels, reduces vascular wall permeability, inhibits the activity of the enzyme hyaluronidase and reduces the release of interleukins 1 and 2, inflammatory mediators (from macrophages and eosinophils) and interferon gamma (from macrophages and lymphocytes). Betamethasone interacts with specific cytoplasmic receptors and stimulates the formation of mRNA, which induces the synthesis of proteins, including lipocortin. This protein blocks the biosynthesis of prostaglandins, endoperoxides, leukotrienes,release of arachidonic acid and inhibits phospholipase A2.
The second component of the drug, salicylic acid, has keratolytic activity. It cleans the affected areas of scales and promotes the penetration of betamethasone into the skin. By maintaining an acidic environment, the development of fungal and bacterial infections is prevented.
Pharmacokinetics
Data on the pharmacokinetics of Belosalik are not provided.
Indications for use
The active substances of Belosalik have antipruritic, anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, keratolytic and antimicrobial effects. The use of the drug not only allows you to influence the focus of inflammation, reducing pain, irritation and swelling, but also, thanks to salicylic acid, prevents the development of bacterial and fungal infections.
Belosalik is prescribed for the treatment of subacute and chronic dermatoses, accompanied by desquamation and hyperkeratosis, including:
- Psoriasis;
- Neurodermatitis;
- Ichthyosis and ichthyosis skin lesions;
- Lichen planus and asbestosis;
- Seborrhea and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp;
- Dyshidrotic, seborrheic and tylotic eczema;
- Chronic discoid lupus erythematosus.
Treatment on the scalp is carried out with a preparation in the form of a solution for external use.
Short-term use of Belosalik during pregnancy and lactation is allowed for strict indications on small areas of the skin.
Contraindications
- Open wounds;
- Cutaneous manifestations of syphilis;
- Viral skin infections;
- Acne vulgaris;
- Post-vaccination skin reactions;
- Rosacea;
- Chicken pox;
- Lupus;
- Trophic ulcers;
- Hypersensitivity to salicylic acid, betamethasone or other components of Belosalik.
The drug is not prescribed for children under 6 months of age. Its use in children under 12 years of age should be carried out with strict precautions and should be as short as possible, since there is a risk of systemic absorption of the active components.
According to the instructions, Belosalik should be used with caution:
- On the skin of the face (due to the possibility of developing perioral dermatitis, dermatitis like rosacea, acne and skin atrophy);
- Under an occlusive dressing (to avoid absorption of more active ingredients).
Instructions for use of Belosalik: method and dosage
Belosalik is used 2 times a day, applying a small amount of ointment or solution to the inflammation focus. In mild cases, the drug is effective once a day.
The course of treatment is from 3 to 4 weeks. For a longer course, it is recommended to use the drug every other day. Several treatment courses are allowed throughout the year.
To avoid the development of systemic side effects that can be caused by the active substances of Belosalik (hypercortisolism, secondary adrenal insufficiency, Itsenko-Cushing's syndrome), it is not recommended to use the drug for a long time on large areas of the skin, especially when used under an occlusive dressing.
Side effects
Belosalik lotion and ointment rarely cause unwanted side effects - flushing, itching or burning. Also during treatment, hypopigmentation, acne-like changes, skin atrophy, secondary skin infections, striae, telangiectasia, hypertrichosis may develop.
When the described side effects appear, it is recommended to stop using Belosalik.
Overdose
With prolonged treatment with the drug, especially in children, as well as applying the agent to damaged skin, large areas or under an occlusive dressing, it is possible to increase the absorption of active ingredients and the occurrence of systemic side reactions (hypercortisolism, secondary adrenal insufficiency, Itsenko-Cushing's syndrome).
In case of an overdose of Belosalik and the appearance of corresponding systemic effects, it is recommended to cancel the drug and prescribe symptomatic treatment.
special instructions
If you develop atypical symptoms that are not described in the instructions, you should consult a doctor.
There are no data on the adverse effect of Belosalik on the ability to drive vehicles.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy, a solution for external use and / or Belosalik ointment can be used only in cases where the expected benefit for a woman outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Treatment should be short-lived, and when applying the drug to the skin, it should be limited to non-extensive areas.
During lactation, the use of Belosalik is possible only for strict indications. The drug should not be applied immediately before feeding to the skin in the area of the mammary glands.
Pediatric use
When prescribing a drug for children, the course of treatment should be as short as possible. During the use of the drug, strict precautions must be observed, since in children the likelihood of systemic absorption of the drug is higher (this is due to the prevalence of the total area of the skin integument over body weight, as well as insufficient maturity of the epidermis). Belosalik should not be applied under dressings and diapers due to the increased risk of unwanted side effects.
Drug interactions
Belosalik does not enter into clinically significant drug interactions with other drugs.
When used simultaneously with ethanol-containing agents, dermatological and cosmetic preparations for the treatment of acne or medical soap with a drying effect, in some cases skin irritation may occur.
Analogs
Belosalik's analogs are:

Reviews about Belosalik
On the Internet, there are both positive and negative reviews about Belosalik. Some patients note its effectiveness in seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis and allergic manifestations, however, for a complete cure, it is necessary to complete the entire therapeutic course, even if the symptoms of the disease disappeared earlier.
Among the advantages of Belosalik are the ease of use and a pleasant cooling effect when applied. The solution for external use is suitable for use on the scalp, since, unlike ointments, it rinses off much more easily.
Among the disadvantages of the drug, patients note its not very pleasant smell, high cost, the appearance of skin peeling after treatment, and sometimes the lack of effect in the treatment of psoriasis (the drug mutes itching, but does not completely cure).
