Cinnarizine is a drug that selectively blocks slow calcium channels, which reduces the tone of smooth muscles of arterioles; has a vasodilating effect (especially on the vessels of the brain), without significantly affecting blood pressure, has a moderate antihistamine activity, reduces blood viscosity, increases the resistance of muscle fibers to hypoxia.

Release form and composition

Dosage form Cinnarizin - tablets: round, flat-cylindrical, with a chamfer, with R marking on one side (or without it); color - from white to white with a creamy shade (10 pcs. in blisters, in a cardboard box 1-5 or 10 packs; 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 100 pcs. in polymer / orange glass jars, in a cardboard box 1 can).

Indications for use

• cerebrovascular insufficiency, manifested by dizziness, headache, tinnitus, decreased concentration, memory impairment;
• vestibular disorders, including Meniere's disease, tinnitus, dizziness, nystagmus, nausea and vomiting of labyrinthine origin;
• peripheral circulatory disorders: acrocyanosis, Raynaud's disease, trophic disorders (including varicose and trophic ulcers), intermittent claudication;

Contraindications

Absolute:

• pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding (lactation);
• children under 5 years old;
• increased individual sensitivity to cinnarizine and other components of the drug.

Method of administration and dosage

Cinnarizine is taken orally after meals.

The recommended dosage regimen for a course from several weeks to several months:

• cerebral circulation insufficiency: 25 mg 3 times / day;
• peripheral circulatory disorders: 50-75 mg 3 times / day;
• vestibular disorders: 25 mg 3 times / day.

The maximum recommended dose is not more than 225 mg (up to 9 tablets per day).

In case of motion sickness on the way (kinetosis or "road sickness"): for adults, half an hour before the trip - 25 mg, if necessary, repeated administration after 6 hours - 25 mg; children from 5 years - ¹ / ₂ adult dose.

Hypersensitivity to cinnarizine therapy recommended to start with a ¹ / ₂ dose, gradually increasing it.

Side effects

• nervous system: extrapyramidal disorders (tremor of the limbs and increased muscle tone, hypokinesia), fatigue, drowsiness, headache;
