Sinaflan is a drug for external use with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antiexudative and anti-allergic action. It is a glucocorticosteroid. Reduces and eliminates inflammatory skin reactions.

Release form and composition

Sinaflan is produced in the form of an ointment for external use, which has a light yellow or yellow color (10 g or 15 g in polyethylene laminate or aluminum tubes, in a cardboard box one tube).

Composition for 1 g of ointment:

• active substance: sinaflan (fluocinolone acetonide) - 0.25 mg;
• auxiliary components: lanolin, ceresin, propylene glycol, petroleum jelly.

Indications for use

• atopic dermatitis;
• toxidermia;
• seborrheic dermatitis;
• limited neurodermatitis (simple chronic lichen);
• exudative erythema multiforme;
• hives;
• eczema;
• simple allergic dermatitis;
• pruritus;
• itchy skin;
• intertrigo;
• psoriasis (exudative form);
• discoid lupus erythematosus;
• otitis externa;
• lichen planus;
• dyshidrosis of bones;
• insect bites;
• first degree burns.

Contraindications

• melanoma, xanthoma, skin cancer, atheroma, nevus, hemangioma, sarcoma;
• tuberculosis of the skin, rosacea, skin manifestations of syphilis, anogenital itching, diaper rash, extensive psoriatic plaques;
• viral, fungal or bacterial skin diseases (herpes, chickenpox, sporotrichosis, actinomycosis, pyoderma, blastomycosis);
• erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, trophic ulcers of the lower leg resulting from varicose veins, open wounds;
• children's age up to two years;
• period of pregnancy;
• lactation period;
• hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Sinaflan is prescribed with caution to girls during puberty.

Method of administration and dosage

Sinaflan ointment is intended for external use.

Before applying the drug, the treated area is wiped with a swab moistened with an antiseptic. A small amount of the ointment is applied to the skin 2–4 times a day, rubbing lightly.

If necessary, it is possible to use an occlusive dressing, which covers the affected area for 3-4 days. It is forbidden to apply more than 2 g of ointment per day under the bandage.

The duration of therapy depends on the nature of the disease. Usually it lasts from 5-10 to 25 days (with a long course of the disease).

Sinaflan ointment is preferable to use for dry dermatoses.

Side effects

The drug can cause secondary infection of the skin and atrophic changes in it (itching, burning sensation, dryness, folliculitis, steroid acne).

With long-term treatment with Sinaphlan, the following side reactions may occur: skin atrophy, purpura, spider veins on the skin, pigmentation disorders, hair loss (especially in women), hypertrichosis, local hirsutism, secondary immunodeficiency (development of opportunistic infections, generalization of the infectious process, exacerbation of chronic infectious diseases).

When using the ointment in large areas, possible systemic side effects characteristic of glucocorticosteroids: adrenal insufficiency, slowing down of recovery processes, “steroid” stomach ulcer, “steroid” diabetes mellitus, gastritis, Itsenko-Cushing's syndrome.

Sinaflan ointment should be applied in short courses and only on limited areas of the skin.

Avoid getting the drug in the eyes, it is not recommended to apply the drug on the face.

When Sinaflan is prescribed to children, the course of treatment should not exceed 5 days.

It is not recommended to wear tight clothing during therapy.

In patients with rosacea or acne vulgaris, an exacerbation of the disease is possible during the use of the drug.

For the prevention of local infectious complications, it is recommended to use antimicrobial drugs simultaneously with Sinaflan.

Drug interactions

When used together with diuretic, antiarrhythmic and antihypertensive drugs, as well as potassium preparations, the activity of these drugs decreases.

Sinaflan can be used simultaneously with antimicrobial drugs.

Diuretics (other than potassium-sparing ones) increase the likelihood of hypokalemia.
