Cetirinax is an anti-allergic drug. Blocker of histamine H1 receptors.
Composition and form of release of Cetirinax
The drug is produced in the form of elliptical, biconvex white tablets, each containing 10 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Additional components: microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone.

According to the instructions, Cetirinax is a histamine H1 receptor blocker. A metabolite of hydroxyzine, a competitive histamine antagonist.
Cetirinax eases the course of allergies and prevents its development. At the late stage of allergic reactions, it inhibits the release of mediators, reduces the migration of eosinophils, basophils and neutrophils. Influences the early stage of allergic reactions, has a pronounced antiexudative and antipruritic effect.
Relieves smooth muscle spasm and tissue edema, reduces capillary permeability. In the recommended dosages, Cetirinax practically does not produce an antiserotonin and anticholinergic effect, and in therapeutic doses it does not have a sedative effect on the body.
According to reviews, Cetirinax begins to act after an hour in 95% of patients. The remaining 5% noted the onset of the drug's action within 20 minutes after administration. The duration of action is one day.
After discontinuation of therapy, the effect of the drug persists for several days.
Dosing and Administration of Cetirinax
According to the instructions, Cetirinax is intended for oral administration. The tablets are taken with a small amount of liquid.
Typically, children over six years of age and adults take the drug one tablet once a day, preferably in the evening. It is also allowed to take the drug twice a day (0.5 tablets in the morning and 0.5 in the evening).
Patients with impaired renal function are usually prescribed Cetirinax according to the instructions at a dosage of 0.5 tablets per day. And in chronic renal failure, the dosage is 0.5 tablets every other day.
Indications for use of Cetirinax
According to the instructions, Cetirinax is prescribed in the following cases:
- hay fever (hay fever);
- hives;
- allergic dermatoses, accompanied by severe itching;
- angioneurotic edema;
- chronic or seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and rhinitis.
Contraindications
Cetirinax is contraindicated in the following cases:
- age up to six years;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- hypersensitivity to one or more components of the drug.
Cetirinax is prescribed with caution in elderly patients, as well as in chronic renal failure.
Side effects of Cetirinax
According to reviews, Cetirinax is predominantly positively tolerated by patients and rarely causes side effects. Sometimes the following reactions from various body systems are possible:
- dizziness, migraine, headache;
- discomfort in the abdomen, dry mouth;
- angioedema, skin rash and itching, urticaria.
Overdose
With a single dose of Cetirinax at a dosage of 50 mg or more, drowsiness, irritability, dry mouth, constipation, urinary retention, anxiety may develop.
In this case, it is necessary to wash the stomach, take adsorbents and carry out symptomatic treatment.
Storage conditions for Cetirinax
Cetirinax is stored in a dry place at room temperature for no longer than 36 months.
