pharmachologic effect
Galazolin is a vasoconstrictor drug used in ENT practice.
The active ingredient of Galazolin is xylometazoline, which is an alpha2-adrenergic receptor antagonist. The use of the drug allows you to narrow the vessels of the nasal mucosa, eliminate its edema and hyperemia (congestion), and also reduce exudation (the liquid part of the blood leaving through the vascular wall).
The properties of Galazolin contribute to the normalization of the patency of the Eustachian tube (the canal from the middle ear to the pharynx), nasal passages, sinus openings, which makes it possible to facilitate nasal breathing.
Prolonged use of Galazolin (more than two weeks) can provoke secondary dilation of blood vessels and lead to rhinitis medicamentosa.
Galazolin's effect develops within 5-10 minutes after application and is observed for 6-8 hours.
Indications for the use of Galazolin
