Asparkam Avexima is a drug that replenishes the deficiency of potassium and magnesium in the body.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - tablets: white, flat-cylindrical, with a risk and bevel (in blisters: in a cardboard box 6 or 7 packs of 8 tablets, or 5 packs of 10 tablets, or 4 or 5 packs of 12 tablets; in polymer cans 50 tablets, in a cardboard box 1 can; in non-cell contour packages of 10 tablets, in a cardboard box 1 package and instructions for the use of Asparkam Avexim).
Active ingredients in 1 tablet:
- potassium asparaginate hemihydrate - 175 mg;
- magnesium aspartate tetrahydrate - 175 mg.
Auxiliary components: colloidal silicon dioxide - 50 mg, macrogol 4000 - 7 mg, stearic acid - 5 mg, potato starch - 88 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Asparkam Avexima is a source of magnesium and potassium ions. It is assumed that the mechanism of action of the drug is associated with the participation of asparaginate in metabolic processes and its role as a carrier of potassium and magnesium ions into the intracellular space.
The drug regulates metabolic processes, eliminates electrolyte imbalance, has a moderate antiarrhythmic effect, which is manifested by a decrease in myocardial excitability and conductivity.
Pharmacokinetics
When taken orally, the drug is easily absorbed. It is excreted by the kidneys relatively quickly.
Indications for use
Asparkam Avexima is used in the complex treatment of conditions / diseases such as:
- hypokalemia;
- cardiac ischemia;
- chronic heart failure;
- overdose of cardiac glycosides, myocardial infarction and other cardiac arrhythmias.
Contraindications
Absolute:
- violation of amino acid metabolism;
- renal failure (acute and chronic);
- hypermagnesemia;
- hyperkalemia;
- severe myasthenia gravis;
- insufficiency of the adrenal cortex;
- violation of atrioventricular conduction (AV-blockade I – III degree);
- arterial hypotension (with a systolic blood pressure of less than 90 mm Hg);
- hemolysis;
- age under 18;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (Asparkam Avexim tablets are used under medical supervision):
- pregnancy;
- period of breastfeeding.

Asparkam Avexim tablets are taken orally, after meals, 1-2 pcs. three times a day. The duration of therapy varies from 21 to 28 days. According to the doctor's prescription, the course of treatment can be repeated.
Side effects
Possible side reactions:
- AV block;
- an increase in the number of extrasystoles (paradoxical reaction);
- hyperkalemia, which is manifested by diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and paresthesia;
- hypermagnesemia, against the background of which a feeling of thirst appears, increased fatigue, decreased blood pressure, facial redness, muscle weakness, areflexia, paresis, respiratory depression, convulsions, coma develop.
In patients with cholecystitis or anacid gastritis, taking Asparkam Avexim can cause burning and discomfort in the pancreas, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
Overdose
Main symptoms: hypermagnesemia, hyperkalemia.
Therapy: intravenous administration of calcium chloride is indicated. If necessary, peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis are performed.

Drug interactions
Possible interactions:
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, heparin, spironolactone, triamterene (potassium-sparing diuretics), cyclosporine, β-blockers: against the background of combined use, the likelihood of developing hyperkalemia increases up to the onset of asystole and arrhythmia;
- glucocorticosteroids: potassium preparations eliminate the hypokalemia they cause;
- cardiac glycosides: potassium ions reduce the severity of their side effects;
- streptomycin, polymyxin B, tetracycline, neomycin: magnesium ions reduce their effect;
- suxamethonium chloride / bromide / iodide, decamethonium bromide, atracuria besylate (depolarizing muscle relaxants): neuromuscular blockade caused by these drugs may increase;
- calcitriol: increases the concentration of magnesium ions in blood plasma;
- calcium preparations: reduce the therapeutic effect of magnesium;
- drugs with an enveloping and astringent effect: they reduce the absorption of the drug in the gastrointestinal tract, which requires a three-hour interval between doses.
