Antareit tablets
Antareit tablets

Antareit is a combined antacid preparation with a component that reduces flatulence.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - chewable tablets: octagonal, with beveled edges, biconvex, almost white or white (possibly the presence of dark blotches), on one of the sides there is an engraving in the form of an apple and the letter "g" (6 pcs. In blisters, in cardboard box 2 or 4 blisters with instructions for use of Antareit).

Composition of 1 tablet:

  • active substances: magaldrate (aluminum magnesium hydroxide sulfate) - 400/800 mg, simethicone - 30.77 / 61.54 mg (in terms of dimethylpolysiloxane - 20/40 mg) (respectively);
  • auxiliary components: sucralose, colloidal silicon dioxide, glyceryl dibegenate, sorbitol, aspartame, macrogol-4000, ethylcellulose, caramel flavor.

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Antareit is a drug of a combined composition that has an antacid, carminative, enveloping and adsorbing effect.

Properties of the active components of the drug:

  • magaldrate: neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach (while not causing secondary hypersecretion of gastric juice). Raises the pH and, as a result, reduces the peptic activity of gastric juice. Binds bile acids. It has an adsorbing and enveloping effect, as a result of which it reduces the effect of damaging factors on the gastric mucosa;
  • simethicone: changes the surface tension of gas bubbles formed in the intestinal mucus and stomach contents, and contributes to their destruction (the released gases are absorbed by the cells of the intestinal walls or excreted during peristalsis).

Simethicone is pharmacologically inert, does not enter into chemical reactions, and removes foam only by physical means.

Pharmacokinetics

Aluminum and magnesium ions are absorbed into the blood in low amounts. In patients with normal renal function, the concentration of substances in the blood does not change. In chronic renal failure, the excretion of aluminum and magnesium is impaired, as a result of which their concentrations may increase to toxic values.

Simethicone is pharmacologically and chemically inert, therefore it is not absorbed into organs and tissues. After passing through the gastrointestinal tract, it is excreted by the intestines unchanged.

Indications for use

Antareit is used for symptoms associated with increased acidity of gastric juice and esophagitis, such as: a feeling of heaviness or overflow in the epigastric region, belching with a sour taste, heartburn, flatulence, recurrent pain in the stomach, dyspeptic disorders (including due to errors in diet, alcohol, coffee and / or nicotine abuse, as well as taking certain medications).

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • intolerance to fructose (sorbitol is a part of the tablets);
  • hypophosphatemia;
  • severe renal failure;
  • age up to 12 years;
  • hypersensitivity to any component of the drug.

Relative (Antareit tablets should be used with caution):

  • low phosphate content in food (due to the risk of developing phosphate deficiency);
  • Alzheimer's disease;
  • renal failure (due to the likelihood of an increase in plasma concentrations of magnesium and aluminum).

Antareit, instructions for use: method and dosage

Antareit tablets are taken orally, chewed or held in the mouth until completely dissolved.

Unless otherwise prescribed by a doctor, adults and adolescents over 12 years of age are advised to take 1 or 2 tablets shortly after a meal. If necessary, taking the drug can be repeated after 2 hours.

The maximum permissible daily dose is 16 tablets at a dosage of 400 mg + 20 mg or 8 tablets at a dosage of 800 mg + 40 mg.

Side effects

Antareit can cause a violation of taste, diarrhea or constipation, nausea, vomiting.

With prolonged use of the drug in high doses, the following side effects may develop: hypercalciuria, hypophosphatemia, hypermagnesemia, hypocalcemia, hyperaluminaemia, osteoporosis, osteomalacia, impaired renal function, nephrocalcinosis, encephalopathy.

In patients with renal insufficiency, taking Antareit may be accompanied by a feeling of thirst, hyporeflexia, and a decrease in blood pressure.

Overdose

With prolonged use of Antareit in high doses, the following disorders may occur: drowsiness, constipation, hypermagnesemia, the formation of kidney stones. It is also possible to develop signs of metabolic alkalosis: unpleasant taste sensations, fatigue, nervousness, mood lability, muscle pain, numbness.

In case of overdose, gastric lavage should be performed, vomiting should be induced and activated charcoal should be taken.

special instructions

With prolonged treatment, the patient should ensure an adequate intake of phosphorus from food.

If necessary, the simultaneous use of other drugs between doses must be observed at intervals of at least 1-2 hours.

Patients with mild to moderate renal impairment during the period of therapy require monitoring of the concentration of phosphates, calcium and aluminum in the blood plasma.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and complex mechanisms

The components of Antareit do not affect the central nervous system and do not cause the development of undesirable effects that can change the speed of reactions and the ability to concentrate.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

In preclinical studies, no teratogenic effect was found. However, in pregnant women, controlled clinical studies on the effect of the components of the drug have not been conducted, therefore, during pregnancy, Antareit can be used only in cases where the expected benefit to the mother is higher than the potential risks to the fetus. However, it should be used in low doses and for a short period of time.

The lactation period is not a contraindication to the appointment of Antareit.

Pediatric use

Antareit is contraindicated for children under 12 years of age.

With impaired renal function

  • contraindicated: severe renal failure;
  • with caution: mild to moderate renal failure (control of the level of aluminum and magnesium in the blood is necessary).

Drug interactions

M-anticholinergics slow down gastric emptying, therefore, enhance and lengthen the effect of Antareit.

Antareit slows down and reduces the absorption of the following drugs: bile acids (chenodeoxycholic and ursodeoxycholic), quinolones (including ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, enoxacin, grepafloxacin), tetracycline antibiotics, beta-adrenergic blocking agents, 2- blockers, barbiturates, iron and lithium preparations, salicylates, diflunisal, quinidine, chlorpromazine, digoxin, isoniazid, rifampicin, cefpodoxime, mexiletine, azithromycin, indomethacin, dipyridamole, lansoprazole, ketoconazalex, phenycillinamine, pivan

Analogs

Antareit's analogues are Almagel Neo, Reltser.

Terms and conditions of storage
