Papillomas are benign neoplasms of the skin and mucous membranes that are infectious in origin (caused by the human papillomavirus, HPV, papillomavirus). Celandine against papillomas is used as one of the basic widely available, and most importantly, effective means.

The chemical composition of the plant explains the therapeutic effect:

  • alkaloids (chelidonine, homohelidonine, chelerythrine, sanguinarine) - poisonous substances;
  • organic acids (malic, citric, succinic, ascorbic);
  • flavonoids;
  • resinous substances;
  • oils.

The mechanism of action of celandine is a local cauterizing effect.

Dosage forms

Forms of celandine-based products:

  • pencil;
  • solution;
  • cream;
  • ointment;
  • extract;
  • oil.

You can remove skin neoplasms with homemade products (celandine juice, decoction, infusion). Depending on the localization of papillomas (face, limbs, trunk), papilloma is removed with celandine in various forms.

Alcohol solution (tincture)

Alcohol tincture is available ready-made in pharmacies. Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

It is an alcohol-containing liquid obtained on the basis of a medicinal plant, which burns out the pathological focus. In addition to providing tissue moxibustion, it has an anti-inflammatory effect. Method of application: clean the surface of the formations 1-2 times a day. You can use gauze or a cotton pad soaked in the solution.

You can prepare an alcoholic infusion yourself as follows:

  1. Take 3 tbsp. l. dry matter of the plant and fill them with 200 ml of alcohol (it is permissible to use 40 and 70%). Insist for 14 days in a dark place.
  2. Take several stems of the plant and pour 150 ml of alcohol over them. Insist in a dark place for about 10 days.

Both funds are used pointwise, excluding the surrounding tissue.

Decoction and infusion

Water-based folk remedies, so they do not cause burns. Prepared at home according to the following recipes:

  1. Take 2 tbsp. l. dry plant and pour 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Use after cooling completely. Apply as applications to the affected area 2-3 times a day.
  2. Take 2 tbsp. l. celandine, 2 tsp. calendula and pour 200 ml of water over them. Simmer for 20 minutes. Apply to wipe papillomas and warts for 2 weeks.

Alkali solution (Supercleaner)

Contrary to the name, it has nothing to do with the plant itself, but effectively cauterizes the tissue of the growth. Transparent liquid solution of concentrated alkalis (potassium and sodium hydroxide), which removes foci in a short time. Also produced in the form of a pencil ("Lekker Supercleaner") for local cauterization.

The mechanism of action is based on denaturation of the focus and tissue necrotization. Requires extremely careful handling, as it may burn healthy tissue. Apply pointwise (a drop is applied to the hearth and evenly distributed with a spatula over the surface). To reduce the risk of injury to the surrounding tissues, it is required to lubricate the area around the pathological focus with any fatty cream. Small-diameter formations can be removed with a single application, for large ones usually 2-3 times are required. Control after 7-10 days (healing wound surface without signs of pathological tissue). Not used in children and pregnant women, as well as on mucous membranes due to its high trauma. Possible complications:

  • cicatricial changes in tissues - occur during the treatment of extensive skin formations (the wound surface is tightened by secondary or tertiary tension), scars are often normotrophic or hypertrophic (sometimes a keloid is formed);
  • chemical burn - with significant redness and sharp pain in the treatment area, it is required to immediately rinse the focus with running water.

If necessary (recurrent form of the disease, for example), you can use the presented funds again with an interval of 1 month.

Ointment and cream

A drug Characteristic
Ointment Contains alcoholic extract from celandine, has a mild effect. Suitable only for the treatment of small-diameter single lesions. Apply a thin layer 2-4 times a day on the affected area. The course lasts from 21 to 31 days. Not recommended for use in pregnant women.
Cream The composition includes celandine extract. It has a lighter texture and a weaker healing effect in comparison with the ointment. Not suitable for large-diameter lesions. It is used for a long time for several months.

These forms of drugs have a mild, weakly pronounced effect, therefore it is recommended to use them simultaneously with other methods of treatment (for example, cryodestruction).

Juice, extract and balm

You can also use the following forms of celandine-based products for treatment:

A drug Characteristic
Fresh Juice Tear off the stem of the grass and burn the hearth with the juice that has come out. The number of procedures varies depending on the diameter of the build-up (2-6 times a day). The duration of treatment is 1 month.
Extract

Extract from a plant with a maximum concentration of medicinal substances. Sold in pharmacies (average price - from 40 rubles), but you can prepare it yourself. The drug is applied in the form of applications to the affected area 2-3 times a day.

To prepare a home remedy, you will need to finely chop several plants along with roots, stems and leaves, pass through a meat grinder, squeeze and keep the resulting juice in a glass jar in the refrigerator for 2 days. Before use, the juice should be diluted with alcohol (2: 1). Apply to formations 2-4 times a day.

"Mountain celandine" Balm, which is prepared from the essential oil of mountain celandine. It is applied with an applicator to the affected area, 1 drop per day. There is a slight risk of burns due to the presence of alcohol. The course of procedures is 5-7 days. Not for use in children under 5 years of age and pregnant women. Do not use on mucous membranes.

In terms of effectiveness, home and pharmacy remedies do not have significant differences (each of them has good reviews).

Oil

To preserve the plant sap for the winter, it is mixed with glycerin or petroleum jelly (a kind of oil is obtained). For this product, you can also use olive oil (pour 2-4 tablespoons of plants with 150-300 ml of oil). Initially, the mixture is soaked in the sun for 2 weeks and then stored in a dark place throughout the winter. It can be applied to all categories of the population. Apply a cloth soaked in oil to the affected area for 12 hours. It should be treated in this way for 2 weeks.

Doctor's advice

To effectively remove papillomas with celandine, you must follow some general recommendations:

  1. Strict adherence to instructions for the use of celandine from papillomas in any form of the drug. Especially important for alcoholic tinctures and alkalis (apply the product correctly to avoid burns to healthy skin).
  2. Compliance with time frames. The course of treatment with celandine is quite long and if the drug is discontinued, the result may not be.
  3. An integrated approach to the removal of formations provides the best effect in case of multiple papillomas (simultaneous use of funds for local therapy such as Viferon, Feresol or destructive methods of removing papillomas). A combination of local and systemic anti-papillomatosis agents can be used. Inside, drugs from the interferon groups are taken to maintain the immune system (drink simultaneously with local treatment).
  4. Allergy test in people prone to allergies before using the product (with the exception of cauterizing drugs), this helps to avoid severe allergic reactions. A small amount of the drug is applied to the skin and monitored for 3-5 minutes for possible changes. If redness, swelling, or itching occurs, the medication is not suitable for this patient.

Before using any medicinal product, you must consult a specialist (dermatovenerologist).
