Citralgin is a drug of a group of non-narcotic analgesics, including non-steroidal and other anti-inflammatory drugs.
Pharmacological action of Citralgin
Citralgin has an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect on the body, reducing joint swelling, stiffness in the morning, increasing the volume of passive and active movements in diseased joints. Numerous reviews of Citralgin note its high efficiency in post-thrombophlebitic disease and thrombophlebitis. The drug can reduce swelling, pain, cramps and paresthesias, as well as reduce the feeling of heaviness in the legs. The beneficial effect of Citralgin on the rate of resorption of hematomas and hemorrhages of various kinds is known. Release form

Indications for the use of Citralgin
Citralgin is indicated for use in the following cases:

• with ankylosing spondylitis;
• with arthropathy of the psoriatic type;

• with osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis of the spine with secondary radicular syndrome;
• with cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral radiculitis;
• with ankylosing spondylitis;
• with myositis;
• in case of headaches associated with spasm of intra- and extracranial arteries. These include migraine and cerebrovascular disease;
• with thrombophlebitis of deep and superficial veins;
• with post-thrombotic disease;
• with diabetic microangiopathy;
• as part of complex therapy for ischemic heart disease;
• with a syndrome of prolonged compression.
Contraindications

Instructions for the use of Citralgin
The drug is intended for external topical use. The instruction for Citralgin recommends taking the medicine in different dosages, based on the type of disease.
• For diseases of the joints, the drug is applied 3 or 4 times a day to the area of the most painful joint, as well as to the surface around it: 10-15 cm lower or higher. Citralgin should be rubbed in until it is completely absorbed. If the cream is absorbed too quickly, apply a second layer. The volume of the applied drug is up to 1 ml per joint. After massage Citralgin is reapplied, covering the site of application with wax paper. Such an application is left on the joint until the ointment is completely absorbed;
• With deforming osteoarthritis, Heberden's nodules and gouty tophi with gout, massage these neoplasms on the basis of Citralgin are performed;
• For sciatica (osteochondrosis of the spine with secondary radicular syndrome), the cream should be applied to the area along the spine (from the sacrum to the upper part of the neck), massaging for 10 minutes. In parallel, zones of more pronounced pain should be identified, where the second layer of Citralgin is subsequently applied, massaging them for 5 minutes. It is also recommended to apply a compress from the cream to the painful areas, covering with wax paper until it is completely absorbed. Treatment of these diseases should be comprehensive: in addition to Citralgin, massage, physiotherapy, medication should be prescribed;
• Thrombophlebitis and post-thrombophlebitic disease. In these cases, Citralgin is applied without rubbing in a thin layer on the lower leg and thigh over the area of the affected vein. The compress should be covered with special paper, leaving until the drug is completely absorbed. The procedure is repeated 2 to 4 times a day for a maximum of 3 weeks. It is necessary to repeat courses of treatment every 3 months;
• In the case of the development of trophic skin changes caused by post-thrombotic disease, obliterating atherosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, etc., Citralgin should be applied to the area of ulcers along the arteries and veins, avoiding application to damaged areas. If there are age spots, the cream is applied to them. A decrease in pigmentation can be observed no earlier than 2 weeks after the start of application.
Side effects of Citralgin
