Release form and composition

The drug is available in the form of an ointment for external use 3%: a yellow mass (15 or 30 g in aluminum tubes, in a cardboard box 1 tube and instructions for the use of Tetracycline-AKOS).

100 g of ointment contains:

  • active substance: tetracycline hydrochloride (calculated as tetracycline) - 3 g;
  • auxiliary components: ceresin, anhydrous lanolin, sodium disulfite (sodium metabisulfite and sodium pyrosulfite), solid petroleum paraffins, petroleum jelly (white soft paraffin).

Tetracycline-AKOS is an antibacterial drug for external use from the group of tetracyclines, has a wide spectrum of bacteriostatic activity. The mechanism of action of tetracycline is due to its ability to interfere with protein synthesis. This occurs as a result of a disruption in the formation of a complex between the transport RNA (ribonucleic acid) and the ribosome.

The following microorganisms are sensitive to tetracycline:

  • gram-positive microbes: Haemophilus influenzae, Enterobacter speciales (spp.), Staphylococcus spp. (including penicillinase-producing strains), Listeria spp., Streptococcus spp. (including Streptococcus pneumoniae), Bacillus anthracis;
  • gram-negative microbes: Salmonella spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Escherichia coli, Bordetella pertussis, Klebsiella spp., Shigella spp., as well as Chlamydia spp., Rickettsia spp., Treponema spp., Mycoplasma spp.

The drug is not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia spp., Proteus spp., Most Bacteroides spp. Strains, fungi, small viruses, group A beta-hemolytic streptococci (including 44% of Streptococcus pyogenes strains, 74% of Streptococcus faecalis strains).
