TeraFlu Bro is an external herbal preparation with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and expectorant effects.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - ointment for external use: from white to light brown color, homogeneous consistency, with a specific smell of essential oils and camphor (in a cardboard box 1 aluminum tube containing 40 g of ointment, and instructions for use of TheraFlu Bro).
Composition of 1 g of ointment:
- active substances: essential oil of rosemary - 50 mg; eucalyptus essential oil - 50 mg; racemic camphor - 125 mg; balm Peruvian - 60 mg;
- auxiliary components: sodium hydroxide solution 30%, carbomer 974R, purified water, polysorbate 20.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
TeraFlu Bro is a herbal medicine. Its action is due to the properties of the components contained in the ointment as active substances.
The drug has an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and expectorant effect.
Pharmacokinetics
After applying the ointment, camphor is partially absorbed through the skin into the systemic circulation. It is metabolized in the liver by hydroxylation to form hydroxymetabolites, which are further combined with glucuronic acid. Camphor metabolites are excreted from the body through renal elimination in the urine.
Eucalyptus oil (main component 1,8-cineole) is absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes, as well as during respiration.
The metabolic process consists of the hydroxylation of camphor and the conjugation of hydroxy derivatives.
Benzyl benzoate is metabolized by hydrolysis to form benzoic acid and benzyl alcohol. The latter is biotransformed into hippuric acid, after which it is excreted from the body in the urine.
Indications for use
TeraFlu Bro is prescribed in the complex therapy of the following inflammatory and infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a cough: acute respiratory pathologies, tracheitis, bronchitis (acute and chronic), tracheobronchitis.
Contraindications
- anamnestic data on the presence of epileptic syndrome;
- damage to the skin at the site of application of the ointment;
- skin diseases in the areas of the intended use of the drug;
- children under 3 years old;
- During pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- known hypersensitivity to any component of TheraFlu Bro.

TheraFlu Bro ointment is intended for external use.
The drug should be applied in a small amount to the upper and middle part of the back and chest, then rubbed in with light movements until completely absorbed. The area of application should be covered with a warm dry cloth.
The frequency of use is 2-3 times a day.
Side effects
In the course of post-registration studies, the development of allergic dermatitis was observed in sensitive patients.

Overdose
