Methyluracil is available in three dosage forms:

The composition of 1 tablet includes:

  • Active ingredient: methyluracil (in the form of dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine) - 500 mg;
  • Auxiliary components: potato starch - 130 mg, povidone K30 - 49 mg, calcium stearate - 7 mg, talc - 14 mg.

The composition of 100 mg ointment for local and external use includes:

  • Active ingredient: methyluracil - 10 mg;
  • Auxiliary component: ointment base (water lanolin, medical petroleum jelly) - up to 100 mg.

The composition of 1 rectal suppository includes:

  • Active ingredient: methyluracil - 500 mg;
  • Auxiliary component: base for suppositories - an amount sufficient to obtain a suppository weighing 2190-2410 mg.

Indications for use

Tablets:

  • Leukopenia (with a mild course, including cases when the disease has developed due to chemotherapy of malignant neoplasms, X-ray and radiation therapy);
  • Radiation sickness;
  • Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer (along with other drugs);
  • Agranulocytic angina;
  • Alimentary-toxic aleukia;
  • Thrombocytopenia;
  • Anemia;
  • Intoxication with benzene;
  • Pancreatitis;
  • Hepatitis;
  • Bone fractures;
  • Burns, sluggish wounds;
  • Reconvalescence (after severe infections).

Ointment for local and external use:

Methyluracil is prescribed as an epithelizing agent in the treatment of wounds, burns, photodermatosis, dermatitis, bedsores, diaper rash, abscesses, boils.

Suppositories for rectal administration:

  • Proctosigmoiditis, ulcerative colitis, anal fissures;
  • Local injuries of female genital organs, as well as radiation damage to the colon and sigmoid colon, radiation cystitis and colpitis (treatment and prevention).

Contraindications

Tablets:

  • Malignant neoplasms of the bone marrow;
  • Leukemia (leukemic forms, especially myeloid);

Method of administration and dosage

Tablets:

Methyluracil is taken orally, preferably during or after a meal.

The drug is prescribed depending on age:

  • Adults: 4 times a day, 500 mg (it is possible to increase the frequency of use up to 6 times a day), the maximum dose is 3000 mg per day;
  • Children 8-14 years old: 3 times a day, 250-500 mg, the maximum dose is 1500 mg per day;
  • Children 3-8 years old: 250 mg 3 times a day, the maximum dose is 750 mg per day.

The duration of the course in the treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract is from 30 to 40 days, with other indications, shorter therapy is possible.

Ointment for local and external use:

Methyluracil is applied to damaged areas in a thin layer, a single dose - 5-20 g. The drug is used daily for 15-30 days. In loose tampons, the drug is used for radioepitheliitis and late radiation damage to the vagina.

In the treatment of acute bullous radiation dermatitis, burns, ulcers and wounds, Methyluracil is used topically, simultaneous use with external applications of sulfonamides, antibiotic and antiseptic drugs is possible.

Suppositories for rectal administration:

The drug is prescribed depending on age:

  • Adults: 1-2 suppositories 1-4 times a day;
  • Children 8-15 years old: 1 suppository per day;
  • Children 3-8 years old: 1/2 suppository per day.

Side effects
