Zinnat is a second generation cephalosporin antibiotic used for bacterial infections caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to the drug.
pharmachologic effect
Zinnat's bacteriostatic (inhibits the reproduction of bacteria) and bactericidal (causes the death of bacteria) properties are due to its ability to disrupt the synthesis of the cell wall of the microorganism.
The active ingredient of Zinnat is cefuroxime, which is active against most gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic bacteria.
The process of absorption from the gastrointestinal tract is significantly accelerated if the antibiotic Zinnat is taken simultaneously with food.
The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood can be observed 2-3 hours after using the drug. Zinnat is excreted by the kidneys unchanged.

The antibiotic Zinnat is available in the form of tablets, granules for the preparation of a suspension intended for oral administration, a powder from which a solution is prepared for intramuscular and intravenous use. Zinnat in oral forms should be taken during or immediately after meals.
Zinnat suspension or tablets are recommended to be taken within 5-10 days, with Lyme disease - 20 days. In most infectious diseases for adults, Zinnat 250 mg is prescribed twice a day. With pyelonephritis, Zinnat antibiotic is taken twice a day, 125 mg. If you suspect pneumonia, severe respiratory tract infections, and Lyme disease, Zinnat 250 mg as a single dose is not enough, therefore the amount of the drug is increased to 500 mg while maintaining a double dose per day. In uncomplicated gonorrhea, the instruction recommends taking Zinnat once in an amount of 1 g. When taking Zinnat suspension, it should be noted that 10 ml of the drug correspond to 250 mg of cefuroxime.
For children over 12 years of age, with most infections, the antibiotic Zinnat is prescribed twice a day, 125 mg. For children from 3 months to 12 years old, a single dose, which should be taken twice a day, is calculated by multiplying 10 mg of Zinnat by the weight of the child. In severe forms of infections and otitis media, children over 12 years old are given Zinnat 250 mg twice a day, and children 3 months - 12 years old - 15 mg / kg with the same frequency of doses.
With intravenous and intramuscular administration, the antibiotic Zinnat is prescribed to adults for most infections 3 times a day, 750 mg each, in severe forms of the disease, a single dose is doubled.
