Dimetinden-Akrikhin is a drug for external use with antiallergic action. Refers to blockers of H1-histamine receptors.

Release form and composition

The drug is produced in the form of a gel for external use 0.1%, which is a transparent, colorless homogeneous mass (5, 30 or 50 g in aluminum tubes, 1 tube in a cardboard box and instructions for use of Dimetinden-Akrihin).

Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

Dimetindene-Akrikhin has antiallergic, antipruritic and antihistamine effects. It belongs to the blockers of H 1 -histamine receptors and is a competitive antagonist of one of the inflammatory mediators - histamine. When applying the drug to the skin, irritation and itching caused by skin-allergic reactions are reduced.

The gel also has a pronounced local anesthetic effect. In addition, it has a weak anticholinergic and antikinin activity.

The gel base of the preparation provides a light cooling effect and a quick onset of action (within a few minutes after application). The maximum effectiveness appears after 1-4 hours.

Pharmacokinetics

The gel penetrates well into the skin. Its systemic bioavailability is about 10%.

Indications for use

Dimetinden-Akrikhin is used for pruritus of various origins: itching with eczema, insect bites, urticaria; itchy dermatoses (with the exception of pruritus associated with cholestasis).
