Dexpanthenol is a drug for external use that improves tissue trophism and tissue regeneration.

Release form and composition

Dosage forms:

  • ointment for external use 5%: a homogeneous mass of light yellow color, with a characteristic smell of lanolin (25 g or 30 g in an aluminum tube, in a cardboard box 1 tube; 25 g in a can, in a cardboard box 1 can);
  • aerosol for external use 5% (58 g each in an aluminum aerosol can with a continuous valve, 1 can in a cardboard box).

1 g of ointment contains:

  • active substance: dexpanthenol - 0.05 g;
  • auxiliary components: cholesterol, petrolatum, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (nipagin), petroleum jelly, white petrolatum, isopropyl myristate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate (nipazole), purified water.

The active substance of the aerosol is dexpanthenol, its content in 1 bottle is 2.5 g.

Indications for use

  • violation of the integrity of the skin as a result of mechanical, chemical, temperature exposure (sun and burns of other etiology, abrasions, scratches, wounds, bedsores) or after surgery (poorly healing skin grafts, postoperative aseptic wounds);
  • skin inflammation, dermatitis, boils, trophic ulcers on the lower extremities, skin care around the gastrostomy, tracheostomy or colostomy;
  • prevention and treatment of the consequences of exposure to the skin of adverse environmental factors: cold, wind, dampness;
  • a source of dexpanthenol and neutral fats as protection for dry skin;
  • prevention or treatment of inflammation and cracks in the nipples of the breast during breastfeeding.

In addition, the use of Dexpanthenol is indicated for children for the treatment and prevention of diaper rash, diaper dermatitis, with scratches and minor skin irritation after exposure to sunlight, X-ray or ultraviolet radiation.

Contraindications

The use of ointment and aerosol is contraindicated in patients with established hypersensitivity to the drug components.

Method of administration and dosage

The ointment is intended for external use by applying a thin layer to the affected area of the skin and rubbing in with light massaging movements.
