Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

D-Panthenol Novatenol refers to tissue regeneration stimulants. The active substance of the drug, dexpanthenol, is a derivative of pantothenic acid (vitamin B 5). Pantothenic acid is a part of coenzyme A and takes part in lipid and carbohydrate metabolism, acetylation processes, the production of steroid hormones, acetylcholine, porphyrins. Dexpanthenol helps to normalize cell metabolism, accelerate mitosis and enhance the strength of collagen fibers. The drug has a regenerating, metabolic and mild anti-inflammatory effect, as well as softens and nourishes the skin.

The need for pantothenic acid increases against the background of tissue or skin damage, a local shortage of this substance in this case can be eliminated with the external use of D-Panthenol Novatenol ointment or cream. Due to its hydrophilicity, low polarity and optimal molecular weight, the active ingredient is able to penetrate into all layers of the skin.

Additional substances included in the composition of the drug help to improve its medicinal properties.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied topically, the ointment and cream are actively absorbed and converted into pantothenic acid, which binds to plasma proteins (mainly albumin and β-globulin).
