Glutargin alkocline is a hepatoprotective drug. It is a hypoammonoemic agent.

Release form and composition

Glutargin alkocline is available in the following forms:

• tablets: biconvex, oblong, white, with a risk (1 piece in a blister, 2 packs in a cardboard box; 10 pieces in a blister, 1 pack in a cardboard box);
• powder for preparation of oral solution: white or white with a yellowish tinge, with a fruity smell (3 g each in single bags (No. 1) or in twin bags (No. 2), in a cardboard box 2, 5 or 10 single bags or 5 paired packets).

Composition of 1 tablet:

Contraindications

Absolute:

• phenylketonuria (for Glutargin alkocline in powder form);
• period of pregnancy;

Method of administration and dosage

Pills

Glutargin alkocline in tablet form is taken orally, regardless of the time of the meal.

The recommended dose of the drug for the prevention of intoxication and the hepatotoxic effect of alcohol is 2 g (2 tablets) 1-2 hours before drinking alcohol or 1 g (1 tablet) 1 hour before drinking alcohol and 1 g (1 tablet) for 0.5 hours after taking alcoholic beverages.

Powder for oral solution

Glutargin alkocline in the form of a powder for solution preparation is also taken orally, regardless of the meal time. To prepare the solution the contents of one packet were dissolved in ¹ / ₄ - ¹ / ₂ cups of water.

Recommended doses:

• treatment of mild or moderate acute alcohol poisoning: on the first day - 1 g (1 packet) 4 times a day with intervals between doses of 1–2.5 hours, on the second and third days - 1 g (1 packet) 2 times a day day;
• treatment of severe alcohol poisoning: after intravenous administration of the drug Glutargin, the patient is prescribed 1 g (1 sachet) of Glutargin alkocline twice a day as part of a combination treatment; duration of use - 20 days;
• prevention of intoxication and hepatotoxic effects of alcohol: 2 g (2 bags) 1-2 hours before drinking alcohol or 1 g (1 bag) 1 hour before drinking alcohol and 1 g (1 bag) within 0.5 hours after taking alcohol-containing drinks.

Side effects

In rare cases, nausea and mild epigastric discomfort may occur immediately after the use of Glutargin alcocline. These side effects do not require treatment and go away on their own.

The drug may insignificantly increase the secretion of growth hormone and insulin, which should be taken into account when prescribing Glutargin alkocline to persons with dysfunction of the endocrine glands. However, the correction of drug treatment in patients with acromegaly and / or diabetes mellitus is not required.

The drug has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles and work with potentially dangerous machinery.

Drug interactions

Glutargin alkocline is prescribed with caution together with the following agents:

• antiplatelet drugs (dipyridamole, etc.) (it is possible to increase their antiplatelet effect);
• aminophylline (under the influence of Glutargin alkocline increases the concentration of endogenous insulin in the blood);
• isoniazid (the drug weakens and prevents the neurotoxic effects of isoniazid);
• vinblastine (Glutargin alkocline reduces its effect).
