Bronchocin is a combined drug that has a bronchodilator and antitussive effect.

Release form and composition

Dosage form - syrup: viscous liquid, transparent or slightly opalescent, colorless (yellowish tint is possible), with a characteristic smell of basil (125 g each in brown glass or polyethylene terephthalate bottles, 1 bottle in a cardboard box and a 5 ml measuring spoon).

Active substances in 1 bottle / 5 ml of syrup:

  • glaucine hydrobromide - 125 mg / 5.75 mg;
  • common basil oil - 125 mg / 5.75 mg;
  • ephedrine hydrochloride - 100 mg / 4.6 mg.

Auxiliary components: sucrose, purified water, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, polysorbate-80, citric acid monohydrate, ethanol 96%.

Indications for use

Bronchocin is a drug for the treatment of diseases of the respiratory system, accompanied by dry cough, such as whooping cough, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, tracheobronchitis, acute and chronic bronchitis, acute inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis.

Contraindications

  • diabetes;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • angina pectoris;
  • cardiac ischemia;
  • chronic heart failure;
  • coronary atherosclerosis;
  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • thyrotoxicosis;
  • hypertrophy of the prostate with clinical symptoms;
  • insomnia;
  • pheochromocytoma;
  • children under 6 years old;
  • I trimester of pregnancy;
  • lactation period;
  • hypersensitivity to drug components.

Carefully:

  • tendency to develop drug dependence;
  • diseases of the brain;
  • epilepsy;
  • alcoholism;
  • liver disease;
  • childhood;
  • II and III trimesters of pregnancy.

Method of administration and dosage

Bronchocin should be taken orally.

Recommended doses:

  • adults: 10 ml (2 scoops) 3-4 times a day;
  • children over 10 years old: 10 ml 3 times a day;
  • children 6-10 years old: 5 ml (1 scoop) 3 times a day.

The duration of treatment is set individually.

Side effects

  • from the digestive system: nausea, anorexia, vomiting, constipation;
  • from the nervous system: agitation, tremors, dizziness, insomnia; in children - drowsiness;
  • on the part of the cardiovascular system: extrasystole, tachycardia, increased blood pressure;
  • from the urinary system: difficulty urinating; in patients with prostatic hypertrophy - urinary retention;
  • from the endocrine system: dysmenorrhea, increased libido;
  • on the part of the skin and mucous membranes: increased sweating, rash;
  • others: tachyphylaxis, visual impairment.

The ethanol content of the preparation should be taken into account: in 1 scoop (5 ml) - about 0.069 g (96% - 1.7 vol.%).

Due to the increased risk of visual impairment and dizziness during treatment, it is recommended to refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require speed of psychomotor reactions and concentration of attention, including driving.

Drug interactions

  • cardiac glycosides, tricyclic antidepressants, quinidine: the risk of arrhythmia increases;
  • sympatholytics: their effect decreases;
  • non-selective beta-blockers: the severity of the bronchodilator action of the drug decreases;
  • narcotic and hypnotics: their effects are weakened;
  • reserpine, monoamine oxidase inhibitors: there is a risk of a sharp increase in blood pressure.

If necessary, Bronchocin can be prescribed in combination with antipyretics, antibiotics and vitamins.

Terms and conditions of storage

Keep out of the reach of children, protected from light, at temperatures up to 25 ° C.

Shelf life is 4 years.
