Bronchoxol is a mucolytic drug, secretomotor, secretolytic and expectorant action.
Release form and composition
- tablets: with a chamfer and a line, flat-cylindrical, from yellowish-white to white (10 pcs. in blister packs, in a pack of cardboard 3 packs; 20 pcs. in blisters, in a pack of cardboard 2 packs; 30 pcs.. in blisters, in a cardboard box 1 package);
- oral solution: transparent liquid, colorless, with a specific odor (50 or 100 ml in orange / brown glass dropper bottles, complete with a pipette / spoon / measuring cap; in a cardboard box 1 set).
1 tablet contains:
- active substance: ambroxol hydrochloride (in terms of 100% ambroxol) - 30 mg;
- auxiliary components: milk sugar (lactose), polyplasdone XL-10 (crospovidone), plasdone Es-630 (copovidone), magnesium stearate.
1 ml of solution contains:
- active substance: ambroxol hydrochloride - 7.5 mg;
- auxiliary components: methylparaben (methyl parahydroxybenzoate), propylparaben (propyl parahydroxybenzoate), sodium hydroxide (sodium hydroxide), sodium disulfite, sodium cyclamate, sodium saccharinate, citric acid monohydrate, purified water.
Indications for use
Bronchoxol is recommended for the following respiratory tract diseases (in acute and chronic form), accompanied by the formation of difficult-to-separate high-viscosity sputum:
- bronchitis (acute and chronic);
- COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease);
- pneumonia;
- bronchial asthma with difficulty in sputum discharge;
- cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis);
- bronchiectasis;
- inflammation of the nasopharynx (improving the thinning of mucus).
Contraindications
Absolute:
- epileptic syndrome;
- I trimester of pregnancy;
- lactation period (breastfeeding);
- children under 6 years of age (for tablets);
- hypersensitivity to ambroxol and other components of the drug.
Relative (Bronchoxol is used with caution due to the increased risk of side effects):
- II and III trimesters of pregnancy;
- renal / hepatic impairment;
- peptic ulcer / duodenal ulcer.
Method of administration and dosage
After taking the drug inside, Ambroxol begins to act after 30 minutes, the effect of the drug continues for 6-12 hours.
It is not recommended to take Bronchoxol without a doctor's prescription for more than 4-5 days.
Pills
The tablets are taken orally, simultaneously with food intake, with sufficient liquid.
Recommended dosage regimen:
- children 6-12 years old: ½ each. (15 mg) 2-3 times / day;
- children over 12 years old and adults: the first 2-3 days, 1 pc. (30 mg) 3 times / day, then 1 pc. (30 mg) 2 times / day or ½ pcs. (15 mg) 3 times / day.
Oral solution
The solution is taken orally, diluted with water, tea or juice, after meals. To dispense the drug, I use the included measuring double-sided spoon (for 1 ml and 2 ml).
In the absence of other doctor's prescriptions, the following dosage regimen is recommended:
- children under 2 years old: 1 ml (7.5 mg) 2 times / day;
- children 2–5 years old: 1 ml (7.5 mg) 3 times / day;
- children over 5 years old: 2 ml (15 mg) 2-3 times / day;
- adults: the first 2-3 days, 4 ml (30 mg) 3 times / day, then the dose may be reduced to 2 ml (15 mg) 3 times / day.
Side effects
- hypersensitivity reactions: urticaria, skin rash, angioedema;
- in some cases: anaphylactic shock, allergic contact dermatitis;
- rarely: headache, weakness, diarrhea, constipation, dry mouth and throat, rhinorrhea, dysuria, exanthema.
Long-term use in high doses can cause gastralgia, nausea, and vomiting.
Overdose symptoms are: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. For the treatment of the condition, it is recommended to induce vomiting and gastric lavage, take fat-containing foods for 1-2 hours.
special instructions
Bronchoxol should not be taken with antitussive drugs that make it difficult to remove sputum.
In order to enhance the mucolytic effect during therapy with Ambroxol, it is necessary to consume a large amount of liquid (water, tea, juices).
In case of renal / hepatic insufficiency, it is recommended to take the drug in lower doses, or to increase the interval between doses.
The first signs of the development of side effects are an indicator for discontinuation of the drug. In case of observing any side effects, you should inform your doctor about their severity and learn about the measures necessary in this situation.
Drug interactions
- antitussive drugs: it is difficult to separate sputum against the background of suppression of the cough reflex;
- amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin: their penetration into the lung tissue improves, the effectiveness of antibiotic therapy for respiratory tract infections increases.
Analogs
Analogues of Bronchoxol are: Ambrobene, Bronhorus, Lazolvan, Ambroxol, Flavamed, etc.
Terms and conditions of storage
Store in a place out of the reach of children, protected from light and moisture (tablets), at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
Shelf life: solution - 2 years; tablets - 3 years.
