Broncho-Vaxom is an immunostimulating drug of bacterial origin.
Release form and composition
Dosage form Broncho-Vaxom - capsules: gelatinous, hard, opaque, size No. 3, body color - white (dose 3.5 mg) or blue (dose 7 mg), cap color - blue; the capsules contain a light beige powder (10 pcs. in blisters, 1 or 3 blisters in a cardboard box).
Composition of 1 capsule:
- active substance: standardized lyophilisate of bacterial lysates (Streptococcus viridans, Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Klebsiella ozaenae, Klebsiella pneumonia-Bronxom 7) (Broncho-7 for children) - Broncho-7 (Broncho-7) mg;
- auxiliary components (3.5 / 7 mg): monosodium glutamate - 1.515 / 3.03 mg; anhydrous propyl gallate (E310) - 0.042 / 0.084 mg; mannitol - up to 20/40 mg; magnesium stearate - 3/3 mg; pregelatinized starch - 110/110 mg; mannitol - up to 200/200 mg;
- shell (3.5 / 7 mg): titanium dioxide (E171) - 1/1 mg; indigotin (indigo carmine) dye (E132) - 0.01 / 0.03 mg; gelatin - up to 50/50 mg.
Indications for use
The drug is prescribed for children from 6 months to 12 years old (Broncho-Vaxom for children) and children from 12 years old and adults (Broncho-Vaxom for adults) with the following diseases / conditions:
- acute respiratory tract infections (treatment in combination with other drugs);
- exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and recurrent respiratory tract infections (prevention).
Contraindications
- age up to 6 months (Broncho-Vaxom for children) or up to 12 years (Broncho-Vaxom for adults);
- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding (the safety / efficacy profile for this group of patients has not been studied);
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Method of administration and dosage
Broncho-Vaxom is taken orally, in the morning before meals.
The dosage form of the drug is determined by age:
- children from 6 months to 12 years old: Broncho-Vaxom for children (dose 3.5 mg);
- adults and children over 12 years old: Broncho-Vaxom adult (dose 7 mg).
Recommended dosage regimen:
- treatment of acute respiratory infections and chronic in the acute stage: 1 capsule daily; therapy is carried out until the symptoms disappear, but not less than 10 days (the duration of the course is determined by the doctor). In cases of need for antibiotic therapy, Broncho-Vaxom is taken in combination with an antibacterial drug from the beginning of treatment;
- supportive therapy and prevention of exacerbations: 1 capsule daily; the course is 3 cycles - 10 days of admission with intervals of 20 days.
If it is difficult to swallow the capsule, open it and mix the powder contained in it with water or drinks (fruit juice, milk).
Side effects
In most cases, Broncho-Vaxom is well tolerated, developing adverse reactions can be attributed to the general category with moderate / moderately severe manifestations. Most often, during the period of therapy, the development of skin reactions, disorders of the respiratory system and the digestive tract is observed.
Possible side effects (> 10% - very often;> 1% and 0.1% and 0.01% and <0.1% - rarely; <0.01% - very rarely; with an unknown frequency - if it is impossible to estimate the frequency development according to available data):
- digestive system: often - abdominal pain, diarrhea; with an unknown frequency - nausea, vomiting;
- respiratory system: often - cough;
- nervous system: with an unknown frequency - headache;
- allergic / dermatological reactions: often - rash; infrequently - hypersensitivity reactions (in the form of erythematous or generalized rash, erythema, edema of the face and eyelids, peripheral edema, facial swelling, itching, generalized itching, shortness of breath); with an unknown frequency - Quincke's edema, urticaria;
- others: with an unknown frequency - fatigue, fever.
special instructions
To avoid overdose, you should choose the dosage form of the drug according to the patient's age.
Some of the components of Broncho-Vaxom can cause hypersensitivity reactions. With persisting gastrointestinal disorders, skin reactions, respiratory system disorders or other symptoms of drug intolerance, therapy should be discontinued, since these signs are related to manifestations of allergic reactions.
Drug interactions
There are no data on a significant interaction of Broncho-Vaxom with other drugs / substances.
In the treatment of chronic / acute respiratory diseases, a combination therapy is possible.
