Retasol is an external agent with anti-inflammatory, regenerating, keratolytic and anti-seborrheic action.
Release form and composition
Dosage form - solution for external use 0.025%: oily transparent liquid from light yellow to yellow color, with a faint smell of ethanol (10, 15, 20, 30 and 50 ml in glass orange bottles, each bottle is placed in a cardboard box).
Composition of 1 ml solution:
- active substance: isotretinoin - 0.25 mg;
- auxiliary components: propylene glycol, butylhydroxyanisole, butylhydroxytoluene, ethanol 95%.

Pharmacodynamics
The active substance of the drug is isotretinoin - a retinoid, one of the biologically active forms of vitamin A.
The substance inhibits the terminal differentiation of sebocytes (secretory cells of the sebaceous glands) and hyperproliferation of the epithelium of the excretory ducts of the sebaceous glands, and also normalizes the composition of their secretion and facilitates its excretion, thereby reducing the production of sebum, normalizing its composition, facilitating its secretion, and reducing inflammation around the glands.
Indications for use
- perioral dermatitis;
- rosacea (if there are few rashes);
- mild seborrheic dermatitis;
- comedonal and papulopustular forms of common acne.
Retasol is also prescribed to maintain the achieved clinical effect after the abolition of oral or rectal dosage forms of retinoids.

Instructions for the use of Retasol: method and dosage
Retasol is intended for external use.
The solution should be applied with a cotton swab to the affected areas of the body 2 times a day. The skin should be cleaned first: wash or rub with a toner that does not contain ethanol.
The course of therapy is determined individually, it can last from 4 to 12 weeks. On the recommendation of a doctor, a second course is possible.
Side effects
At the beginning of treatment, an exacerbation of the disease is possible, manifested by the appearance of new rashes, swelling, itching, peeling and redness of the skin. If the reactions are pronounced, it is recommended to cancel the drug for several days. Therapy can be resumed after the inflammatory process subsides.
In rare cases, reactions of individual intolerance are noted (in the first 1-2 days of treatment), manifested by the appearance of maculopapular rashes, swelling and itching. In this case, it is necessary to interrupt the treatment and consult a doctor.
Overdose
Overdose is possible with prolonged use of the drug. Its main symptoms are cheilitis, as well as peeling and redness of the skin at the site of Retasol applications, which quickly disappear after the drug is discontinued. If necessary, local glucocorticosteroids are prescribed to eliminate these phenomena.

The solution is not recommended to be applied to the skin around the eyes and to areas of the body with severe acute inflammation. Do not use the drug on mucous membranes.
During the period of retinoid therapy, it is necessary to avoid exposure to the sun, as well as the prophylactic and therapeutic use of ultraviolet rays and visits to the solarium. In extreme cases, sunscreen should be used.
