Aeron is a drug used as an antiemetic and anti-nausea agent. Has a sedative effect, is able to reduce the secretion of sweat, lacrimal, salivary, bronchial, gastric glands, as well as the pancreas. Aeron's action is aimed at reducing the tone of the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, gallbladder and bile ducts, improving the conduction of impulses through the atrioventricular node in the heart.

Release form and composition

The medicine is produced in the form of tablets of 0.0005 g (in blisters of 10 pcs.).

Content of the main active ingredients in 1 tablet:

  • Scopolamine camphoric acid - 0.0001 g;
  • Hyoscyamine camphoric acid - 0.0004 g.

Indications for use

Aeron's ability to relax the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract leads to the reduction and prevention of vomiting and nausea after its use.

Due to these properties, Aeron is assigned in the following cases:

  • Prevention and treatment of air and sea sickness;
  • Prevention and elimination of symptoms of Meniere's disease;
  • Plastic surgery and upper respiratory tract surgery to reduce mucus and salivation (in the process).

The use of Aeron is allowed with vomiting and nausea of pregnant women to eliminate or alleviate toxicosis.

Contraindications

The appointment of the drug is prohibited in case of hypersensitivity to its components, prostatic hypertrophy and angle-closure glaucoma.

Method of administration and dosage

Prevention of sea and air sickness with Aeron tablets occurs according to the following scheme: half an hour or an hour before departure, you need to take 1-2 pieces, after 6 hours, if necessary, another 1 tablet. If preventive measures have not been taken, treatment should be started after the first sensations of illness, such as headache, dizziness, nausea - you should take 1 or 2 Aeron tablets, then the drug is taken 2 times a day, 1 tablet.

The maximum possible single dose of the drug for an adult is 2 tablets, while the daily dose should not exceed 4 tablets.

In Meniere's disease, the drug is used as follows: 2-3 times a day, 1 tablet.

To reduce mucus and salivation, 2 tablets are taken half an hour before the surgery, the next two days - 1 tablet 2 times a day.

Side effects

Aeron's use can provoke dry mouth and throat, thirst (you can relieve the condition with plenty of drinking and caffeine).

In rare cases, such phenomena as tachycardia, mydriasis, intestinal atony, urinary retention, dizziness are observed.

Also, the drug impedes the outflow of intraocular fluid, dilates the pupils, causes accommodation paralysis (visual impairment at close range), increases intracranial pressure.
