Alomid is an antiallergic agent for topical use in ophthalmology.

Release form and composition

The drug is available in the form of 0.1% eye drops: clear liquid from pale yellow to colorless (5 ml or 10 ml in a dropper bottle "drop-container", in a cardboard box 1 bottle).

1 ml of Alomid drops contains:

• Active ingredient: lodoxamide tromethamine - 1.78 mg (corresponds to 1 mg of lodoxamide);
• Auxiliary components: benzalkonium chloride, sodium citrate, mannitol, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, disodium edetate, citric acid monohydrate, tyloxapol, concentrated hydrochloric acid and / or sodium hydroxide (to adjust the pH level), purified water - up to 1 ml.

Indications for use

• Allergic conjunctivitis;
• Giant papillary conjunctivitis;
• Keratoconjunctivitis (seasonal, year-round, etc.);
• Allergic keratoconjunctivitis (medication, spring, chronic, nonspecific, follicular, catarrhal, etc.);
• Ophthalmic reactions to contact lens wear.

Contraindications

• Children under 2 years old;
• Individual intolerance to the drug.

It is recommended to prescribe Alomid with caution during pregnancy and lactation.

Method of administration and dosage

Alomid is applied topically, by instillation into the conjunctival sac.

Recommended dosage: 1-2 drops in each eye 4 times a day, at regular intervals.

Do not touch the tip of the pipette during instillation to the eyes, or to any other surface, in order to avoid contamination of the contents of the vial.

Side effects

• Local: transient discomfort, blurred vision, flushing, tingling, burning, itching, crystal deposition, pain in the eye (s), lacrimation, keratitis, eyelid edema, chemosis;
• Systemic (observed in rare cases): blurred vision, fatigue, dyspepsia, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, dry nasal mucosa, allergic reactions (fever, itching, rash).

It is recommended to stop wearing hydrophilic (soft) contact lenses for the period of treatment.

After applying the drops, temporary blurred vision, other visual problems are possible, this can have a negative impact on the ability to drive vehicles and work with potentially dangerous mechanisms. In this case, you should postpone classes that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions for some time (until vision is restored).

Drug interactions

Alomid can be used simultaneously with corticosteroids for the treatment of ophthalmic pathologies.
