Infectious diseases

Infectious diseases are a group of diseases that begin to develop due to the activity of pathogenic pathogens. Unlike many other ailments, diseases of an infectious nature can be transmitted from person to person.

This often leads to large-scale epidemics and the need to introduce quarantine measures. Other important features of this group of diseases include the specificity of the etiological agent, the cyclical nature of the course, and the fact that human infectious diseases not only affect various body systems, but also form immunity against pathogens.

At the moment, millions of people are constantly suffering from various infections. At the same time, diseases not only undermine the health of mankind, but also cause enormous economic damage. There is an opinion that many childhood infectious diseases were finally defeated back in the 70s of the last century, but this is not true. Yes, scientists have made very significant breakthroughs in the fight against pathogens of certain destructive processes, however, it is too early to talk about the complete surrender of infections. So far, we can single out only one disease that has not made itself felt for over 20 years - smallpox. All other infectious diseases regularly appear in different parts of the world and cause epidemics among the population.

I would also like to note that infectious processes can be provoked not only by the pathogens themselves, but also by the products of their vital activity. Accumulating, for example, in water or food, they lead to acute intoxication of the body, and in the absence of treatment - to death. However, not everything is as scary as it seems at first glance, because of the entire colossal mass of microorganisms with which we are in contact throughout life, human infectious diseases are caused only by an insignificant number of agents.
