Eglonil belongs to the group of neuroleptics. The main active ingredient of this agent is sulpiride. The mechanism of action of the drug is associated with the selective blocking of dopamine D2 receptors in the central nervous system (in the mesolimbic and mesocortical zones). Due to this blocking effect, Eglonil has a moderate antidepressant, neuroleptic and stimulating effect. The use of Eglonil in medium therapeutic doses has practically no effect on productive symptoms - delusions and hallucinations, but at the same time eliminates apathy and depression.
An additional therapeutic effect of Eglonil is to selectively influence the hypothalamus and suppress excitation in it in the centers of the sympathetic nervous system. This increases the formation of protective mucus in the stomach, improves blood circulation to the walls of the stomach, and improves the healing of erosions and ulcers. Therefore, the indications for Eglonil are also ulcerative and erosive processes in the stomach, especially against the background of severe stress.
The pharmacodynamics of the drug is linear - its concentration in the blood directly depends on the dose taken. Eglonil penetrates well through the blood-brain barrier into the brain. In the body, it is practically not metabolized. It is excreted unchanged in the urine through the kidneys.

The drug is used in the treatment of depressive disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, migraines, psychosomatic disorders, post-traumatic encephalopathy, behavioral disorders in children, dizziness. Positive feedback was received about Eglonil in the complex treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, stress ulcers of the digestive tract, medicinal ulcers.
Contraindications
According to the instructions, Eglonil should not be used for individual intolerance, tumors of the adrenal medulla - pheochromocytoma, with high blood pressure, in a state of psychomotor agitation.

In the acute period of the disease and with the severity of psychotic symptoms, treatment begins with parenteral administration of the drug intramuscularly. With a stable condition of the patient, it is recommended to take it in the form of tablets.
The dose of the drug for psychotic disorders depends on which symptomatology prevails - with a positive 800-1600 mg / day in 3 divided doses, with a negative 200-600 mg / day in 3 doses.
The children's dose is calculated based on body weight - 5-10 mg / kg / day, it depends on the severity of symptoms.
For the treatment of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, take 150 mg 3 times a day, for a course of up to 4-6 weeks. For psychosomatic disorders, 100-200 mg / day is sufficient.
For the treatment of depressive disorders, the dose of the drug is 150-300 mg 3 times a day, with dizziness 150-300 mg / day. In the case of insufficiently pronounced clinical effect, the dose is increased.
During pregnancy, doses of Eglonil should be as minimal as possible and a short course.
Like analogs, Eglonil reduces the reaction rate and concentration.
