Septogal is an antiseptic drug.
Release form and composition
Dosage form of release - tablets for resorption: flat-cylindrical, from light yellow to white, with a bevelling, with the name of the drug on one side, with a characteristic odor (in blisters of 10 pcs., In a cardboard box 2 or 3 blisters).
Active ingredients in 1 tablet:
- 50% solution of benzalkonium chloride - 0.001 g;
- menthol - 0.003 g;
- thymol - 0.0006 g;
- peppermint oil - 0.001 g;
- eucalyptus oil - 0.0006 g.
Auxiliary components: Sugalets 212/200 μm, EMDEX, magnesium stearate.
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Septogal is a combination drug.
The actions of the active components that make up the drug:
- benzalkonium chloride (cationic surfactant): inhibits enzymatic processes, disrupts the permeability of the cell membrane of microorganisms, is active against certain types of viruses, protozoa and fungi, many pathogenic bacteria;
- thymol: has fungistatic, bactericidal and antiseptic effects;
- eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, menthol: have a moderately pronounced deodorant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antiseptic properties.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Septogal is prescribed for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory pathologies of the oral cavity and pharynx.
Contraindications
The use of Septogal is contraindicated in patients with individual intolerance to the components that make up the drug.
Relative contraindications (diseases / conditions in the presence of which the administration of tablets requires caution) are:
- diabetes;
- age under 4 years old.
Instructions for the use of Septogal: method and dosage
The tablets dissolve slowly in the oral cavity until they are completely dissolved. The drug should not be taken immediately before meals and in combination with milk.
The recommended dose is 1 pc. every 2-3 hours
Maximum daily doses:
- children over 4 years old: 4 pcs.;
- children over 10 years old: 6 pcs.;
- children over 12 years old and adults: 8 pcs.
Side effects
During the period of use of Septogal, allergic reactions may develop.
