Septolete Neo is a local antiseptic preparation used in dentistry and ENT practice.
Release form and composition
Dosage form of release - pastilles: round, biconvex; apple - green; lemon - yellow; cherry - from pink with a lilac tint to pink; for all forms of release, the presence of insignificant lighter inclusions is permissible. In a cardboard box 2 blisters of 9 lozenges.
Composition of 1 lozenge:
- active substance: cetylpyridinium chloride - 1.2 mg (in the form of cetylpyridinium chloride monohydrate - 1.26 mg);
- auxiliary components: liquid maltitol (dry matter) - 476.64 mg; mannitol - 163.88 mg; levomenthol - 2 mg; lemon oil - 3 mg; glycerol - 3.5 mg; castor oil - 1.1 mg; anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide - 1 mg; magnesium stearate - 3 mg; titanium dioxide - 3 mg; povidone - 2.5 mg; capol 600 pharma - 2.5 mg; maltitol - up to 1200 mg; additionally for apple lozenges: apple flavor - 10 mg, yellow dye - 0.65 mg, green dye - 1.95 mg; additionally for lemon lozenges: lemon flavor - 3 mg, citrus flavor - 3 mg, orange oil - 4 mg, yellow dye - 2.6 mg; additionally for cherry lozenges: cherry flavor - 10 mg, purple dye - 2.6 mg.

Pharmacodynamics
Cetylpyridinium chloride is an antiseptic from the group of quaternary ammonium compounds. It has antimicrobial, antifungal and virucidal effects.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Septolete Neo is prescribed for the treatment of the following infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and throat:
- laryngitis, pharyngitis, the initial stage of angina;
- inflammation of the oral mucosa and gums (stomatitis, gingivitis).
Instructions for use Septolete Neo: method and dosage
Absolute:
- age up to 4 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Relative (Septolete Neo is prescribed under medical supervision):
- pregnancy;
- lactation period.
Method of administration and dosage
Septolete Neo lozenge should be placed in the mouth, where it should melt. The drug should be taken between meals.
Recommended application scheme:
- children from 12 years old and adults: up to 8 pcs. per day, frequency of admission - every 2-3 hours;
- children 10-12 years old: up to 6 pcs. per day, frequency of admission - every 3-4 hours;
- children 4-10 years old: up to 4 pcs. per day, frequency of admission - every 3-4 hours.
Side effects
During the period of Septolete Neo therapy, subject to the recommended dosing regimen, the development of adverse reactions is rare.
Possible violations: gastrointestinal disorders (in the form of nausea, diarrhea), allergic reactions (drug withdrawal is required).
It should be taken into account that large doses of the polyols (mannitol, maltitol) included in the Septolet Neo can lead to the development of diarrhea, especially in children.
Overdose
The probability of an overdose is minimal.
When taking doses exceeding the recommended ones, the development of disorders from the digestive system can be noted, which manifests itself as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting. In these cases, the cancellation of therapy is indicated. You need to seek the advice of a doctor.

If you have open wounds in the mouth, you should not take Septolete Neo, as this may slow down wound healing.
In cases of severe infections, which are accompanied by high fever, vomiting and headache, medical advice is required, especially if there is no improvement in the condition within three days of therapy.
Each lozenge contains approximately 1000 mg of maltitol. Insulin is required for its metabolism, but due to slow hydrolysis and absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, the glycemic index is low. The energy index of maltitol is significantly lower than that of sucrose.

Septolete Neo during pregnancy / lactation can be used under medical supervision.
Pediatric use
It is contraindicated to administer Septolete Neo therapy to patients under 4 years of age.
