Pharmacological properties
Ocuwaite Lutein is a combination drug with antioxidant properties used for the prevention / treatment of eye diseases. The vitamin-mineral complex contained in the preparation improves visual acuity and slows down the progression of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is the leading cause of blindness in the elderly. Since the frequency of reactions accompanied by the formation of free radicals in the human body increases with age, the need for the use of substances exhibiting an antioxidant effect increases.
The effect of dietary supplements is due to the properties of its components. The carotenoids zeaxanthin and lutein, which are powerful antioxidants, are actively involved in the formation of macular pigment, which forms a protective cover that absorbs short-wave radiation, thereby preventing negative effects on the deeper sensitive cells of the retina. While maintaining the normal content of pigment in the macula of the eye, the threat of AMD is reduced by 82%.
Zeaxanthin and lutein, the main structural components of the macular pigment, are not produced by the body, but are supplied from the outside with various additives and food. Regular intake of the drug, which includes these substances and antioxidant vitamins C and E, reduces the likelihood of developing AMD, helps to normalize visual acuity, and also has a beneficial effect on various organs and systems of the body, protecting against the negative effects of free radicals.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Ocuwaite Lutein is recommended for use as a dietary supplement to increase the density of macular pigment and prevent decreased visual acuity, as well as a source of zeaxanthin, lutein, vitamins E and C, zinc and selenium minerals. The drug is used to improve the nutrition of the retina in the presence of the following diseases: cataract, myopia, degenerative lesions of the retina, diabetes mellitus.
