In another way, the common sour cherry in our country is called "borshchovka" or "hare salt". This plant becomes the most common in spring, then its thickets are scattered almost everywhere: near the trunks of spruce trees, and on the plains, and in shady forests, and on damp ground. The domestic flora includes only six species of this herb, half of which are brought from other countries.
Oxalis belongs to the herbaceous perennial plants of the oxalis family. In height, it never grows more than 15 cm, has a very thin branchy rhizome, which "creeps" in the horizontal direction. The basal leaves are located on the long and fluffy stalks of the plant. Oxalis flowers are small in size, as well as white, which is sometimes diluted with small purple veins. In summer, you can see on the plant still small flowers, which are located on short peduncles. The flowering period of sour cherry falls in late spring and early summer, but the seeds ripen already in July.
The sour fruit is a small egg-shaped box that independently throws out seeds.
Quite often, the plant can be found in the European part of the CIS, in the Caucasus or the Non-Black Earth Region, as well as in Siberia.

The crushed leaves are used to treat purulent wounds.
Sour acid has a fairly high content of various organic acids, including oxalic. Tinctures prepared on the basis of this plant are used in the treatment of liver and stomach diseases. In addition, borshch is an excellent antiseptic, and its juice can cure scabies.
