Bifidumbacterin Forte is a medical immunobiological preparation, probiotic. Antidiarrheal agent of biological origin, regulating the balance of intestinal microflora.
Release form and composition
- powder for oral administration: from light gray to dark gray with inclusions of black particles of coal (inclusions of beige are possible), with a weak fermented milk smell (5 doses in bags of multilayer metal-polymer material, in a cardboard box 10 or 30 bags);
- capsules: hard gelatinous, with a white body and a blue lid; content - powder from light gray to dark gray with inclusions of black particles of coal (inclusions of beige are possible), with a weak fermented milk smell (10, 18 and 30 pcs. in polymer cans, in a cardboard box 1 can).
The active substance is bifidobacteria sorbed on activated carbon, in 1 capsule and 1 package of powder - at least 5x10 7 CFU (colony-forming units).
An auxiliary component of the powder and capsules of Bifidumbacterin Forte is lactose monohydrate.
Pharmacological properties
Bifidumbacterin Forte has an improved digestion, normalizing intestinal microflora and immunomodulatory effects.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug contains in a high concentration Bifidobacterium bifidum sorbed on particles of activated carbon - bifidobacteria, which are antagonists of various pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms, including Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Proteus, etc.
Microcolonies of bifidobacteria contribute to the rapid restoration of normal intestinal microflora, which is a natural biosorbent, due to which a significant amount accumulates toxic substances that are formed in the body or come from outside.
Sorbed bifidobacteria strengthen the body's immune defenses, activate the synthesis of amino acids and vitamins, parietal digestion, as well as regenerative processes in the mucous membranes.
Indications for use
- foodborne diseases;
- acute intestinal infections of the established (staphylococcal enterocolitis, salmonellosis, rotavirus infection, shigellosis) and of unknown etiology;
- intestinal dysbiosis of various etiologies (including due to the intake of glucocorticosteroid hormones, antimicrobial drugs, antibiotics and drugs that have an ulcerogenic effect on the gastrointestinal tract, for example, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).
Complex therapy of diseases accompanied by intestinal dysbiosis:
- allergic diseases;
- acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI);
- acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia;
- inflammatory diseases of the urogenital tract;
- Infectious mononucleosis;
- chronic diseases accompanied by damage to the gastrointestinal tract (chronic constipation, pancreatitis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, malabsorption syndrome, liver and biliary tract diseases, cholecystitis);
- pre- and postoperative therapy of patients with a surgical profile in case of intervention on the intestines, pancreas, liver - for the correction of intestinal microbiocenosis and prevention of pyoinflammatory complications.
For prevention:

Contraindications
- impaired absorption of glucose-galactose;
- congenital lactase deficiency.
In the form of capsules, Bifidumbacterin Forte is not prescribed for children under 3 years old, but if necessary, you can open the capsules and take the contents in the same way as a powder.
Instructions for the use of Bifidumbacterin Forte: method and dosage
Bifidumbacterin forte is taken orally, preferably during meals.
Before taking the powder, it must be mixed with liquid food (optimally, a fermented milk product), for newborns and young children - with mother's milk or formula. Also, the powder can be diluted in boiled water at room temperature (volume 30-50 ml). The resulting suspension, cloudy with black sorbent particles, should be drunk immediately, without waiting for complete dissolution.
Capsules should be swallowed whole and washed down with water or fermented milk product. If it is difficult to swallow the capsules, you can open them and take the contents in the same way as a powder.
Depending on the severity of the disease, the drug can be used in normal and increased doses.
Usual Doses of Bifidumbacterin Forte
The use of the drug for medicinal purposes:
- adults - 2 capsules / 2 packets of powder 2-3 times a day;
- children from 3 years old - 1 capsule / 1 packet 3-4 times a day;
- children 1-3 years old - 1 packet of powder 3-4 times a day;
- children under 1 year old - 1 packet of powder 2-3 times a day.
Duration of therapy:
- food toxicoinfection, acute intestinal infection - 5-7 days;
- surgical patients - 3-5 days before surgery and 10-15 days after it;
- other diseases: 15–21 days, depending on the nature and severity of the condition.
If necessary, the courses are repeated 2-3 more times at intervals of 1 month.
The use of Bifidumbacterin Forte for preventive purposes:
- adults and children from 3 years old - 1-2 capsules / powder packet 1-2 times a day;
- children 1-3 years old - 1-2 packages of powder 1-2 times a day;
- children under 1 year old - 1 packet of powder 1 time per day.
The duration of preventive therapy is 10-15 days. There are 2 or 3 such courses per year.
Increased doses of Bifidumbacterin Forte
SARS and acute intestinal infection:
- adults - 10 capsules / packets of powder 3 times a day;
- children from 3 years old - 5 capsules / packets of powder 6 times a day;
- children 1-3 years old - 5 bags of powder 6 times a day.
Reception is recommended to start from the first day of the disease and continue for 1-3 days.
Chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract:
- adults - 10 capsules / packets of powder 1-3 times a day;
- children from 3 years old - 5 capsules / packets of powder 1-3 times a day;
- children 1–3 years old - 5 packets of powder 1–3 times a day.
Duration of admission is 10-14 days.
Infectious mononucleosis:
- children over 10 years old - 7-8 capsules / packages 3 times a day for 5 days, then 7-8 packages once in the evening for another 5 days;
- children 7-10 years old - 6 capsules / packages 3 times a day for 5 days, then 6 packages once in the evening for another 5 days;
- children 3–7 years old - 4 capsules / pack 3 times a day for 5 days, then 4 packs once in the evening for another 5 days;
- children under 3 years old - 3 packages 3 times a day for 5 days, then 3 packages once in the evening for another 5 days.
