Release form and composition
Dosage form - cubes for oral administration (1 pc. In a foil package, 6 cubes in a cardboard box).
Content of active ingredients in 1 cube:
- Senna narrow-leaved fruits: 0.3 g;
- Senna leaves of holly and narrow-leaved: 0.71 g.
Excipients: fig paste, plum mousse, anhydrous citric acid, invert sugar syrup, liquid paraffin, sorbic acid, glyceryl monostearate, solid fat, lemon flavor, sorbitol, propylene glycol.

Pharmacodynamics
Regulax is a laxative drug. Senna sennosides undergo metabolic transformations in the body, resulting in the formation of active metabolites - reinanthrone. The active ingredient of the drug acts on receptors located in the large intestine. As a result of such a stimulating effect, the mobility of the intestine and its propulsive (translational) contractions increase.
When treating with Regulax, the movement of feces in the intestinal region is accelerated and the reabsorption of fluid decreases. By stimulating the secretion of chlorides, reinanthrone increases the release of electrolytes and water into the intestinal lumen. Water is retained in the intestinal lumen, softens its contents and facilitates the excretion of feces.
The development of the laxative effect of Regulax is noted approximately 8 hours after taking the drug.
Pharmacokinetics
Sennosides are practically not absorbed in the digestive tract. More than 90% of active metabolites (reinanthrone) are excreted through the intestine in the form of pharmacologically inactive polymers.
Indications for use
The use of Regulax is indicated for constipation caused by sluggish peristalsis of the large intestine, atony or hypotension.
Contraindications
- Intestinal obstruction;
- Strangulated hernia;
- Abdominal pain of unknown etiology;
- Crohn's disease, appendicitis, ulcerative colitis, peritonitis and other acute inflammatory pathologies of the abdominal cavity;
- Gastrointestinal bleeding;
- Severe dehydration, accompanied by the loss of salts and water;
- Metrorrhagia;
- Hereditary fructose intolerance, impaired absorption of galactose and glucose;
- Age under 12;
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
According to the instructions, Regulax should be taken with caution by patients immediately after abdominal operations, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with hepatic and / or renal failure.
Instructions for the use of Regulax: method and dosage
I take the cubes by mouth, swallowing after thoroughly chewing, preferably before going to bed.
Recommended daily dosage:
- Adults: 1 pc.,
- Children over 12 years: 1 / 4 - 1 / 2 pcs.
Duration of use is up to two weeks.

Side effects
- In some cases: spasm of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT);

Overdose
With an overdose of Regulax, diarrhea with severe dehydration and electrolyte imbalance may occur. In severe overdose, acidosis and collapse are observed.

Drug interactions
The risk of developing hypokalemia increases with concomitant therapy with drugs licorice root, corticosteroids, thiazide diuretics.
The use of Regulax contributes to the violation of the absorption of tetracyclines.
