Trimedat forte is an antispasmodic drug. The action of its active substance, trimebutin, is aimed at restoring the normal physiological activity of the intestinal musculature in various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) caused by motility disorders.

Trimebutin directly affects the enkephalinergic (opiatergic) system of the intestine, contributing to the regulation of its peristalsis. The myotropic antispasmodic regulates the motility of the entire gastrointestinal tract, acting on peripheral delta (δ) -, mu (μ) - and kappa (k) -receptors, including those located directly on smooth muscles, without affecting the central nervous system.

The drug normalizes visceral sensitivity, which in case of abdominal pain syndrome provides its analgesic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, the absorption of trimebutin from the gastrointestinal tract occurs quickly. Plasma protein binding is about 5%. The substance penetrates the placental barrier to an insignificant extent. In the liver, the biotransformation of trimebutin ends with the formation of metabolites, which are subsequently excreted through the kidneys.

Indications for use

The use of Trimedat forte is indicated for such functional disorders of the gastrointestinal tract and biliary tract as a non-erosive form of gastroesophageal reflux disease, irritable bowel syndrome, dysfunction of the biliary tract, cholelithiasis, postcholecystectomy syndrome, dysfunction of the sphincter of Oddi.
