Triazavirin is a direct antiviral drug (not a symptomatic agent and not an immunomodulator); effective against influenza viruses, including avian and swine, as well as ARVI (acute respiratory viral infections) of any etiology; is active at any stage of the disease, and not only at the beginning of infection.
Release form and composition
Triazavirin is available in the form of capsules: size No. 1, hard gelatinous, red cap and yellow body, inside capsules - granules or fine crystalline powder of yellow-green or yellow color (10 pcs. In blisters, in a cardboard box 2 or 5 packs; 20 or 50 pcs. in orange glass jars or polymer jars, in a cardboard box 1 jar or jar).
1 capsule contains:
- active substance: sodium methylthionitrooxodihydrotriazolotriazinide dihydrate (triazavirin) - 250 mg;
- auxiliary component of the capsule contents: calcium stearate;
- capsule body: titanium dioxide (E171), medical gelatin, dyes - sunset yellow (E110), quinoline yellow (E104);
- capsule cap: titanium dioxide (E171), medical gelatin, azorubin (E122).
Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Triazavirin is a synthetic analogue of the bases of purine nucleosides (guanine), which have a pronounced antiviral activity against RNA viruses. The mechanism of action of the drug is mainly due to inhibition of the synthesis of viral RNA (ribonucleic acid) and the replication of genomic fragments.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, the active substance is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration (C max) of triazavirin in blood plasma is reached after 1–1.5 hours and averages 0.0048 mg / ml when taken in a dose of 250 mg 3 times a day.
T 1/2 (half-life) is 1-1.5 hours. Through the kidneys, 15–45% of triazavirin is excreted unchanged. The calculated clearance averages 246 ml / min.
Indications for use
According to the instructions, Triazavirin is indicated for the treatment of influenza in adult patients, including in combination with symptomatic drugs.
Contraindications
- renal failure;

- age up to 18 years;
- hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Triazavirin: method and dosage
Triazavirin capsules are taken orally, regardless of food intake.
Recommended dosage: 1 pc. 3 times a day, the duration of the course of treatment is 5-7 days.
It is necessary to start using the drug after the onset of clinical symptoms of influenza within the first two days.

Overdose

Drug interactions
Simultaneous use with analogues of purine and pyrimidine bases increases the toxicity of the drug.
