Dosage forms of release of Senna leaves:
- crushed leaves (crushed vegetable raw materials): pieces of leaves, thin stems, petioles, petals, buds, flowers, sepals and unripe fruits of green or brown color of various shades with a low odor, have different shapes and pass through a sieve with holes 7 mm in diameter; the taste of the water extract is somewhat bitter, with a slimy sensation (in polypropylene / paper bags of 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 75 or 100 g, in a cardboard box 1 bag);
- leaves-powder (raw vegetable-powder): a mixture of pieces of petioles, leaves, buds, thin stems, valves of fruits and flowers of grayish-green color with yellowish blotches, with a faint odor, passing through a sieve with holes with a diameter of 2 mm; the taste of the water extract is somewhat bitter, with a slimy feeling (in filter bags of 1.5 g, in a cardboard box of 10, 20, 24, 30 or 50 filter bags).

Pharmacodynamics
A decoction of senna holly leaves has a laxative effect. After taking the drug, the therapeutic effect usually develops after about 8-12 hours.
Indications for use
- constipation in a chronic course;
- hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures (for the purpose of stool regulation).
Contraindications
- intestinal obstruction;
- abdominal pain of unknown etiology;
- acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal organs;
- electrolyte / water metabolism disorders;
- strangulated hernia;
- exacerbation of proctitis and hemorrhoids;
- uterine bleeding;
- bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract;
- spastic colitis;
- cystitis;
- pregnancy;
- age up to 12 years;
- individual intolerance to the components of the drug.
Instructions for the use of Senna leaves: method and dosage
Senna leaves are taken orally as a decoction, preferably after meals in the evening.
To prepare the broth, about 1 tablespoon (5 g) of crushed raw materials or 2 filter bags (3 g) should be placed in an enamel / glass dish, pour 1/2 cup (100 ml) of hot boiled water and heat in a boiling water bath under a lid for 15-30 minutes, and then infuse until completely cooled at room temperature. Then you need to strain the broth, squeeze out the remaining raw materials and bring the volume to the original.
Take 1/2 glass 1 time per day.
Duration of use is from 2 to 3 weeks.
It is recommended to shake the broth before taking.
Side effects
Possible violations: flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhea, allergic reactions; during a long course - colitis.
Overdose
The main symptoms: violation of water and electrolyte metabolism, diarrhea.
In cases of overdose, symptomatic treatment may be required.
