Neoton is a drug that helps to improve the metabolism of muscle tissue and myocardium.
Release form and composition
Neoton is produced in the form of a powder for the preparation of a solution for infusion: white granules (in 1 g vials, 1 or 4 vials in a cardboard box).
The composition of 1 bottle contains the active substance: sodium phosphocreatine tetrahydrate - 1 g.
Indications for use
Neoton is prescribed as part of the combined treatment of diseases such as:
- Acute myocardial infarction;
- Heart failure (chronic course);
- Intraoperative myocardial and lower limb ischemia.
In sports medicine, Neoton is used to prevent the development of physical stress syndrome (chronic and acute), as well as to improve the adaptation of athletes to excessive physical exertion.
Contraindications
- Chronic renal failure (for a daily dose of 5-10 g);
- Age up to 18 years (the effectiveness and safety of using Neoton for this age group of patients have not been established);
- Hypersensitivity to drug components.
Pregnant women are prescribed Neoton only in cases where the benefits to the mother are higher than the expected harm to the fetus. During lactation, breastfeeding should be interrupted during therapy.
Method of administration and dosage
Neoton is administered only by intravenous drip or as a rapid infusion.
The dosage regimen is determined by the indications:
- Acute myocardial infarction: 0-24 hours - fast intravenous infusion of 2-4 g of Neoton diluted in water for injection with a volume of 0.05 l, followed by intravenous infusion over 2 hours 8-16 g in 0.2 l of 5% glucose solution (dextrose); during the second day, 2 times a day intravenously drip (duration of infusion - from 30 minutes), 2-4 g of the drug, diluted in 0.05 l of water for injection, are administered; during the third day, the drug is administered according to the same scheme at a dose of 2 g (if necessary, treatment is continued for 6 days);
- Heart failure (chronic course): therapy can be started with shock doses - 5-10 g of Neoton in 0.2 l of 5% glucose (dextrose) solution intravenously at a rate of 4-5 g per hour for 3-5 days; in the future, the drug is used in maintenance doses - intravenous drip (duration of infusion - from 30 minutes) 1-2 g of the drug, diluted in 0.05 l of water for injection, with a frequency of administration 2 times a day for 2-6 weeks. If the patient's condition allows, treatment begins immediately with the use of maintenance doses according to the above scheme;
- Intraoperative myocardial ischemia: intravenous drip (duration of infusion - from 30 minutes) 2 g of the drug, diluted in 0.05 l of water for injection, with a frequency of administration 2 times a day. The course begins 3-5 days before the surgery and continues for another 1-2 days after it. During the operation, Neoton should be added to the usual cardioplegic solution at a concentration of 10 mmol / L or 2.5 g / L immediately before administration;
- Intraoperative ischemia of the lower extremities: before surgery - rapid infusion of 2-4 g of the drug in 0.05 L of water for injection; during the operation and during the period of reperfusion - intravenous drip of 8-10 g of Neoton in 0.2 l of 5% glucose (dextrose) solution at a rate of 4-5 g / h.
In sports medicine, according to the indications for use, Neoton is prescribed by intravenous drip (infusion duration - from 30 minutes), 1 g per day in 0.05 L of water for injection, course duration - 3-4 weeks.
Side effects
- Cardiovascular system: lowering blood pressure (with rapid intravenous administration);
- Allergic reactions: manifestations of hypersensitivity to the active substance of Neoton.

In case of ischemia, to ensure a more favorable prognosis, Neoton should be administered as soon as possible after the onset of symptoms of the disease.
The use of high daily doses of the drug (5-10 g) is accompanied by an increased uptake of phosphates in the kidneys, which affects calcium metabolism, the secretion of hormones regulating homeostasis, the metabolism of purines and renal function, therefore, long-term therapy of Neoton in high doses is not recommended.
Drug interactions
The drug is stable in cardioplegic solutions, water for injection and 5% glucose (dextrose) solution.
With the simultaneous use of Neoton, it increases the effectiveness of drugs with a positive inotropic effect and antianginal, antiarrhythmic drugs.
