Corn silk is rich in vitamin K, pantothenic and ascorbic acids, carotenoids, fatty and essential oils, sugary and resinous substances, bitter glycosides, sitosterol, saponins, alkaloids, etc.

Corn silk, the use of which should be agreed with a doctor, increases the secretion of bile, decreases its viscosity, decreases bilirubin levels, increases prothrombin levels and accelerates blood clotting.

Corn silk is taken orally in the form of a decoction every 3-4 hours, 10-45 ml. To prepare the broth, 3 tbsp. l. (10 g) of raw materials are placed in a dish, preferably enameled, then pour 200 ml of boiled hot water and close the lid. The resulting mixture is heated in a water bath for half an hour and then cooled for 10 minutes at room temperature.

After filtering and squeezing out the raw materials, the resulting broth from corn stigmas should be brought to 200 ml by adding boiled water.

For the treatment of diseases of the gallbladder, urinary system, liver, a ready-made extract of corn silk is also used, which is recommended to be taken 2-3 times a day, 30-40 drops.

Corn silk for weight loss is taken in the form of a decoction prepared in the following way: 1 tsp. raw materials are poured with 1 glass of hot water, boiled for 1 minute, left to brew. Take this broth for 1/3 cup 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals.

Side effects

The decoction and extract of corn stigmas, as well as preparations based on this plant, are usually well tolerated, only in rare cases manifestations of allergic reactions were noted.
