Ibufen should be taken orally after meals. Shake the bottle immediately before taking. A measuring spoon or syringe is included for accurate dosing.

A single dose is 5-10 mg per kilogram of body weight. Frequency of admission - up to 4 times a day at intervals of 6-8 hours. The maximum allowable daily dose is 20-30 mg / kg.

Recommended dosage regimens depending on the age and weight of the child:

  • 6-12 months (body weight 7.7-9 kg): 2.5 ml 3 times a day;
  • 1-3 years (10-15 kg): 2.5 ml 3-4 times a day;
  • 4-6 years (16-20 kg): 5 ml 3 times a day;
  • 7-9 years (21-29 kg): 5 ml 4 times a day;
  • 10-12 years old (30-41 kg): 10 ml 3 times a day.

Children between the ages of 3 and 6 months should only be given Ibufen as directed by their healthcare professional. The daily dose for them should not exceed 5 ml of suspension. For post-vaccination reactions, 2.5 ml are prescribed, after 6 hours - another 2.5 ml.

Duration of use of the drug, depending on the indications: reduction of increased body temperature - up to 3 days, relief of pain - no more than 5 days.

special instructions

With prolonged use of Ibufen, it is necessary to monitor the peripheral blood picture, the functional state of the kidneys and liver.

In bronchial asthma or other diseases that may be accompanied by bronchospasm, ibuprofen can cause bronchospasm. For this reason, in these patients, the drug should only be used with great care. If you have difficulty breathing, you should immediately consult a doctor.

To prevent the development of NSAID gastropathy, Ibufen is recommended to be combined with prostaglandin E preparations (for example, misoprostol). When symptoms of the disease appear, careful monitoring of the patient's condition is necessary, including an analysis of feces for occult blood, a blood test with the determination of hemoglobin and hematocrit, and esophagogastroduodenoscopy.

To reduce the risk of developing side effects from the gastrointestinal tract, Ibufen should be taken in the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible period.

Patients referred for a 17-ketosteroid study should stop ibuprofen 48 hours in advance.

During treatment, it is recommended to avoid taking drugs containing ethanol, as well as performing tasks that require increased attention and speed of reactions.

Patients with diabetes mellitus should take into account that 1 ml of suspension contains about 0.34 g of sucrose or about 0.03 XE. Thus, the minimum single dose of Ibufen (2.5 ml) contains 0.85 g of sucrose (0.075 XE), the maximum single dose (15 ml) - 5.13 g of sucrose (0.45 XE).

Drug interactions

  • Other NSAIDs (including acetylsalicylic acid): the anti-inflammatory effect of ibuprofen decreases, side effects increase (this combination is contraindicated);
  • Diuretics: their effect is weakened, the risk of developing renal failure increases (this combination is recommended to be avoided if possible);
  • Vasodilators (including angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors): their hypotensive activity decreases;
  • Oral hypoglycemic agents (especially sulfonylurea derivatives) and insulin: their effect is enhanced;
  • Microsomal oxidation inducers (phenylbutazone, rifampicin, phenytoin, tricyclic antidepressants, barbiturates, ethanol): the risk of severe hepatotoxic reactions increases;
  • Cholestyramine, antacids: absorption of ibuprofen decreases;
  • Valproic acid, cefoperazone, plikamycin, cefamandol, cefotetan: the incidence of hypoprothrombinemia increases;
  • Gold preparations, cyclosporins: increased nephrotoxicity of ibuprofen;
  • Means with myelotoxic effect: manifestations of hematotoxicity of ibuprofen increase;
  • Cyclosporine: its plasma concentration increases and the likelihood of developing hepatotoxic effects;
  • Drugs that block tubular secretion: excretion decreases and plasma concentration of ibuprofen increases;
  • Antiplatelet agents, indirect anticoagulants, fibrinolytics: their effect increases, the risk of hemorrhagic complications increases;
  • Caffeine: increases the analgesic effect of ibuprofen;
  • Digoxin, methotrexate, lithium preparations: their concentration in the blood increases.
