Diartrin capsules

Diartrin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity when taken orally.

Release form and composition

Dosage form of the drug - capsules: size No. 1, hard gelatinous, yellow body and cap; contents - yellow powdery mass (10, 15 or 30 pcs. in blister packs, 1–6 packs in a cardboard box).

Composition of 1 capsule:

  • active substance: diacerein - 50 mg;
  • auxiliary ingredients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, colloidal silicon dioxide, crospovidone, povidone K-30, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulfate;
  • shell: dyes quinoline yellow and sunset yellow, titanium dioxide, gelatin.

Indications for use

Diartrin is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis - degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the knee and hip joints due to various etiologies of lesions of the cartilage tissue of the articular surfaces.

Contraindications

Absolute:

  • inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis);
  • pain in the epigastric region of unexplained genesis;
  • intestinal obstruction;
  • liver disease (including history);
  • renal failure of severe degree with creatinine clearance (CC) <30 ml / min;
  • lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, lactase deficiency;
  • the period of pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding);
  • children and adolescents up to 18 years old;
  • hypersensitivity to diacerein, other anthraquinone derivatives and any components of the drug.

Relative contraindications: Diartrin is taken with caution in moderate renal failure with CC = 30-60 ml / min, irritable bowel syndrome and in the elderly> 65 years.

Method of administration and dosage

Capsules are taken orally, swallowed whole, washed down with water or other neutral liquid, after eating in the morning and evening.

Recommended dosage: 1 capsule (50 mg) 2 times a day.

Treatment must be carried out for a long time continuously or in long courses, for 4 months or more, with interruptions.

During the first 2 weeks, diacerein can accelerate the transit of intestinal contents, therefore, for the first month of treatment, it is recommended to take 1 capsule per day (during an evening meal). And only after consulting a doctor, and with his permission, the dose can be increased to 2 capsules (100 mg) per day.

In case of moderate renal failure (CC = 30-60 ml / min), the dose should be reduced by half [up to 1 capsule (50 mg) per day].

Side effects

  • hypersensitivity reactions (occur infrequently, with a frequency in the range> 1/1000 - <1/100 cases) - rash, itching, other allergic reactions of varying severity;
  • digestive system (rare, with a frequency in the range> 1/10 000 - <1/1000 cases) - nausea / vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the epigastric region;
  • other reactions: occurs infrequently - intense coloration of urine from yellow to brown (depending on pH; has no clinical significance and does not require dose reduction or drug withdrawal); is rare - general malaise.

If you observe any of the above adverse reactions, their aggravation, the manifestation of other negative effects, you should immediately inform your doctor.

Overdose indicators are diarrhea and weakness.

Therapy of the condition is symptomatic, in case of severe diarrhea, the water-electrolyte balance should be replenished.

special instructions

Diacerein therapy can be prolonged.

Diartrin can be taken in combination with other analgesics (including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) until the therapeutic effect occurs.

In the course of treatment, it is necessary to periodically monitor blood and urine parameters, as well as conduct liver function tests.

In case of deterioration of renal function, consideration should be given to discontinuing diacerein or reducing its dose.

Intense staining of urine can complicate the interpretation of the results of its analysis (for example, for glucose).

When the patient develops diarrhea, drug treatment should be discontinued.

The effect of diacerein on the speed of psychomotor reactions and concentration has not been studied.

Drug interactions

  • antacids: reduce the absorption of diacerein;
  • medicines that affect the intestinal microflora (including antibiotics), substances that change the quality of the intestinal contents and the rate of its emptying (for example, fiber): an increase in the frequency of unwanted effects from the digestive system is possible;
  • medicines containing magnesium / aluminum hydroxide: reduce the bioavailability of diacerein;
  • laxatives / substances: concomitant use with diacerein is not recommended.

Diartrin analogs are: Arthrodarin, Diaflex Rompharm, Diacerein, Diacerein-Mac, etc.
